Five teams interested in Griffey

05:47 AM ET 01.05 | Five teams have shown interest in future Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr., his longtime agent Brian Goldberg said. According to Goldberg, three American League teams and two NL teams have expressed some level of interest. The Mariners and Rays are known to be two of the AL teams eyeing Griffey, who'd like to play at least one more season. Another friend of Griffey's said last year that the all-time great would love to play for Tampa Bay, which is less than two hours from his Orlando home. Griffey always has been a dedicated family man, so the convenience would appeal to him. The Rays are looking for one or two hitters, and while Griffey's on their list, a couple other younger players, such as Bobby Abreu, Pat Burrell, and perhaps Jason Giambi or Garrett Anderson may be higher on it. Adam Dunn is another big hitter in a free-agent market still stacked with sluggers.

My children are grown up now but if they were kids again i would tell them that if you want a sporting role model then this is the man to watch. A class act on and off the field!

not to griffey bash-
but
he might be a 'good guy' but he NEVER played with any heart or emotion...
there is a reason his teams always STUNK- no LEADERSHIP
Obviously a HOF'er & had all the talent in the world-
but his career failures can be traced right back to him.

My recollection is that his career failures can be traced to his physical fragility and the attendant injuries. Hard to show leadership when you're laid up or rehabing.

He was truly one of the greatest to play the game and one of the nicest people on the planet, injuries or not.

Just because you've got the biggest bat on the team doesn't mean you're supposed to be a vocal, emotional leader. I personally have always admired the quiet leaders that led by example.

I can see him going to the Rays. He's just the kind of person they need for DH.

I heard several area retirement homes were considering giving him contracts to sit in a rocking chair in centerfield for the senior leagues... He is a class act but it's time to hang up the cleats, his best playing days are long over. If he signs this year he will play 50 games and bat .245 with 5 HRs and taint his already impressive career.

Cannot believe I'm saying this, but at this stage, I'd take a Garret Anderson over Griffey

We're not giving him away just so he can hit .320 for our cross-town rivals. Forget it!

Consider that I'd rather re-sign Bobby Bonilla than have Cabrera as my starting corner outfielder.

Yes. But instead of Ivy the walls at Citi Field will have chili peppers growing out of them

Just what we need, a 4th DH. He wouldn't come to the Yankees. Suppossedly Steinbrenner yelled at him when he was a kid.

Yeah but the Yankees can't get anything for him that would make him worth trading, and you would rather have Bonilla anyway...
