Jets add Ryan, Billick, Grimm to search

The biggest development yesterday in the Jets' coaching search happened 1,100 miles south of New York, in Miami, where Raven defensive coordinator Rex Ryan had an eye-opening pre-interview performance. Ryan, 46, oversaw a Raven defense that intercepted Chad Pennington four times and caused five turnovers overall in a 27-9 AFC wild-card victory over the Dolphins. The Jets had planned to interview Ryan this week, but because the Ravens next play on Saturday and don't have a day off, the meeting will be delayed. If the Ravens win Saturday, the Jets could interview Ryan on Sunday in Baltimore. If the Ravens lose, they could interview him next week in Florham Park. A person familiar with the Jets' search said the team also has had conversations with former Raven coach Brian Billick, but that no interview has been scheduled. They also plan on asking for permission to speak with Cardinal assistant head coach Russ Grimm, but have not done so yet.

I am surprised that Rex Ryan isn't a head coach already. He's done such an amazing job with the Ravens defence for years now. And the beating they put on the Dolphins yesterday, ouch.

"Wedge it, WEDGE IT!!!!!"

it'll be rex ryan or billick

Ryan should get his chance. Billick is a good coach too, but he is very annoying. He thinks a little too much of himself. He is a superbowl winning coach though and he was like 13-3 like 2 years ago.

I wouldnt want Billick. He was supposed to be an offensive guru when he got to Baltimore but he never in 9 years was able to get a QB in there. And I believe that is what the J.E.T.S need more than anything, leadership at the QB position. I dont see Favre coming back.

It's about time!!! I've been saying this since the Mangina firing...Sign Brian Billick! He's the best option out there, a proven guy, runs a 3-4 D, and will be able to run a compentent RUN FIRST offense. Lets get this done ASAP Woody!

Another head coach interview for Grimm? Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

I think the Rams will end up with Rex Ryan. New GM Billy Devaney almost hired Ryan when he (Devaney) was still calling the shots in Atlanta.

Brian Billick shouldn't be on anyone's radar. He was slowly running the Ravens into the ground.

Rex Ryan should be a head coach. Why hasn't anyone signed him?

ah ignore that second one... this website took 5 minutes to post my first comment. I didn't think it took.

i think it will be Spags or Ryan. I'll be happy with either one. the only way I see Billick is if the feel they need a coach with HC expirence. I can also see him coming off way to arrogant for the Woody and company. I do think the Jets need a HC with a defensive background

He's an EXPERIENCE DEFENSIVE COACH why NOT he didn't cause any WAVES when he LEFT
