Mother knows best for the state's No. 1 college football prospect. Branden Smith followed his mother's advice and committed to Georgia on Sunday night. The defensive back from Atlanta's Booker T. Washington picked the Bulldogs over Alabama, Florida and Florida State during ESPN's telecast of the Under Armour All-America game.

Don't worry little buck-a-roo, we're gonna be fine. We can't get 'em all, and better to lose one to UGA than UF.

The good times are coming back to Tallahassee! GO NOLES!

It looks like Richt is going with the Bowden hat look.....

The hat may be a recommendation from his doctor. After several surgeries to remove skin cancer, my doctor told me to wear a similar style hat if I was going to be out in the sun. I can see that being a problem for coaches, especially in southern states.

Overrated ???? I guess to whole SEC is overrated. How the Big "10" of big "12"

Ya. Just ask Utah how 'tough' that big bad ole SEC is.

They sliced through Alabama like a hot knife thru butter. Just imagine how badly they'd destroy the rest of the SEC's teams.

January 5, 2009  02:37 PM ET

Yeah Utah destroyed Bama. But that is the same thing that has happened to OU in the previous 2 fiesta Bowls. Look at how Ole miss destroyed Tech. And Tech was at one point the best team in the Big 12.

Top GA recruit commits to UGA - SHOCKER! Duh!

January 5, 2009  11:38 PM ET

There's a lot of D***a***s putting their two cents into the pot. I wish the SEC was as easy as you all think. I hate the Gators, but gotta pull for the SEC. All Big 10 and Big 12 fans come talk to me after Thursday.

January 5, 2009  11:46 PM ET

What are you idiots talking about? I absolutely hate the Gators, but you all know the best team in any conference will never run with the SEC's #1 team. You Big 10 and Big 12 fans crack me up. If ya'll were not so cocky and full of yourselves, I would probably pull for the Sooners.

January 5, 2009  11:49 PM ET

What are you idiots talking about? Everyone knows the best team from any conference does not stand a chance against the #1 SEC team. If you Big 10 and Big 12 fans were not so cocky and full of yourselves, I would pull for the Sooners. I hate those D*** Gators, but.............Get 'em Gators!

The SEC has 2 really good teams. 1 of them just got slaughtered on a neutral field by a team from the Mnt West.

What more proof do you want that the SEC is just an average conf?

Richt does look like he's in the sun way too much when you see him up close. From tv every girl thinks he's hot.

As opposed to the Pac10 and Big12's one good team? Or Big10 no really good teams???

I drove through Georgia once, great pies. Best of luck to Branden and the UGA.
