Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has told the Boston Globe that he plans to have Andy Reid as coach and Donovan McNabb as quarterback next season."With Andy's leadership, we were in four straight NFC championship games and a Super Bowl," said Lurie, who grew up in Boston. "We haven't won a championship, but the quality of coaching and the quality of the performance of the team has been at a very high level."

That should have been a no brainer. But I would love to face the Eagles twice a year without Mcnabb! There season will be over next week, so they will have time to make changes before next season starts!

January 5, 2009  07:57 AM ET

He's only got a couple of seasons left. They should trade him now to get as much as they can for him.

January 5, 2009  08:05 AM ET

I can see the arguments about trading him for value now, but if they can ride their momentum to a Super Bowl win or even an appearance, that could make it hard to make those kind of changes from a P.R. perspective. That being said, go Eagles and I'll be watching Giants-Eagles III next week!!!

January 5, 2009  08:05 AM ET

And right now they are hot enough to beat the Giants and the Panthers. They've had momentum for weeks now.

they shouldve said this before they won the playoff game. if they didnt get into the playoffs or win the first round do they still give "this vote of confidence"? it was foolish for all the mcnabb talk anyway, the eagles saw what kevin kolb could do, and it wasnt much

January 5, 2009  08:43 AM ET

Of course he does...until next year when they start the season 2 and 3 and the fans go nuts calling for a replacement.

January 5, 2009  09:03 AM ET

Philly fans are sickening. They boo him and demand for Kolb now they are on his nuts. For some reason they think this makes them good fans or "passionate" fans. In reality it makes them typical fans . . . . . .

"Momentum" is a little overrated. Weren't the Indianapolis Colts the hottest team in the NFL? What happened to them? The Eagles are familiar with the Giants and have a chance to win. But remember that the Eagles also did lay an egg against the Washington Redskins a few weeks ago and although they won last night, they didn't look that great. Tarvaris Jackson was miserable. Much is being made of the fact that the Giants lost 3 of there last 4. However, they struggled with injuries in the first two losses and the last one shouldn't even count since they almost beat the Vikings with their backups. They will be healthier than they've been in months this weekend.

That said, McNabb and Andy Reid have been treated pretty unfairly this year. Reid is probably the best coach in Iggles history and McNabb the best Quarterback. Both have a reason to feel slighted and I don't think they deserved to be working for their jobs this year.

January 5, 2009  09:07 AM ET

McNabb is FIRST CLASS. Reid should chose to lose a few (100) lbs. Afraid he may fall over and not be able to get up. Go Donovan, you are a class act and a great QB

You're a moron. The fans were NEVER all on board having McNabb gone. There are some who love him and some who hate him--you can't generalize to an entire fan base. People who do this are most likely racists too (making statements to cover an entire group of people). We are not blind and we know that Kolb does not appear to be the answer at this point. Most fans were annoyed with/blaming Andy Reid for his HORRIBLE play calling (passing 70% of the time at one point and asking McNabb to do too much) then they were calling for McNabb's head.

Alright, where's X on this beautiful Monday morning?

um.... I'm a moron yet philly fans were booing him this year weren't they? They flip on him in a heartbeat, he has even made comments about it so how are you going to say the majority don't do it? And how is my statment racist? Are all philly fans one race? Ya dummy . . . .

January 5, 2009  09:38 AM ET

of course they do, the eagles won this week. let's see how the philly fans feel after the eagles lose in the playoffs

Eagles suck!

January 5, 2009  10:22 AM ET

they'll wish they didn't say that after the giants slap the hell out of them next week.

Dallas sucks. Eagles are in the playoffs after kicking the cowpies out of the Cowboys. Now the Cowboys are like the Lions; watching playoffs on TV.....every year.........!!!

I think we can all agree Philly fans are not typical.

Let's give alot of credit to the Vikes defense in that game. They threw alot of blitzes at the Eagles and just played very solid defensively. Tarvaris looks like a promising QB as he has looked for the last quarter of the season.
