Mangini looks like Browns' top choice

The Browns will have to wait until Sunday to interview Baltimore director of pro personnel George Kokinis for their vacant general manager job. The question now is whether owner Randy Lerner will hire his preferred coach, Eric Mangini, before then, as indications grew stronger on Monday that a deal with Mangini was imminent. The Browns have had discussions with Mangini beyond their formal interview last Tuesday, according to a source close to the Browns' search. Those talks have continued with the understanding that Lerner would complete his search process before closing a deal. The process is on hold, the source indicated.

This is why the Browns are the Browns.

QUOTE(#1):

They should bring in this man to coach the Browns. They should not bring in some boy that has no idea how to be a coach. The coach has to be smart and the players just need to run and hold onto the ball. Holdin on to the ball is hard for alot of the boys to do as we know that my people.

Why do they want another guy with a beer gut? Get someone that at least looks like he takes care of himself.

They are really in love with the belichek tree of coaching..... Not sure how different a mangini regime willbe from a crenell regime- since tehy learned from the same guy.

And ps-....didn't cleveland WATCH the Jets collapse?
It's then same as when herm left for KC...are tehse teams WATCHING games?
lol....KC gave us a 4th round pick for that stiff.....

Why can't you trust him. He blew the whistle on Belicheat, he wasn't the one taping games illeagally. I think he's a good coach and the only reason he was fired was b/c Farve faded down the stretch. I'm a big Farve fan but if he hadn't faded so much in the last 5 games the Jets would still be playing and Mangini would be getting a lot of praise right now. I'm still not sure if he's the right guy or not but I think he would do a good job if he came to Cleveland.

The Browns and Mangina, reminds me of that "Lowered Expectations" skit on Saturday Night Live. A great fit, a coach nobody wants to coach a team that won't win. Sounds like GOOD TIMES in Cleveland! Enjoy another year of mediocrity.

I'm glad Bond007 has at least made a new profile and put a nice looking girl on it. Did your other account get banned for your thinly veiled racist comments? Of I hope not. Word.

I'm sure steelers/bengals/ravens fans love this idea.

He can't be trusted b/c he blew the whistle on a common practice in the NFL, as acknowledged by Hall of Fame coach John Madden and a host of other former Super Bowl-winning coaches to include Jimmy Johnson, Mike Ditka and Bill Cowher. Whether you like Belichick or not, Manigini broke "the code." The NFL changed the rule before 2007 because abuse of the old policy was rampant. There's even evidence that Mangini employed the same tactics before he narc'd out the Patriots. In regards to his coaching, his results in NYC speak for themselves. His staff blamed Favre for the team's shortcomings, just as they floundered between Pennington and Clemons over previous seasons. At some point you have to just conclude that this guy isn't an NFL-caliber head coach.

This why Cleveland will never win. Mangini is damaged goods, a bad seed, a rat. Best of luck to you folks in the Dawg Pound. If Romeo didn't kill you of a heart condition, this clown will.

I still can't understand what happened to the Browns. With all of the moves off-season I thought they'd be a serious contender. Must be very frustrating for Browns' fans.
