Hearing from many sources that Hall of Fame Racing, which ran many drivers in the #96 Toyota in 2008, is selling off cars and equipment and most of the work force has been laid off and is not expected to start the season, if run at all.

A toyota team gone. Why that just breaks my heart.

A toyota team folding? Why that just breaks my heart.

January 6, 2009  08:34 AM ET

They were insiginificant and only good for creating wrecks and filling the field.

January 6, 2009  08:56 AM ET

Dup, Dup, Dup, a Toyota Team bites the dust!

January 6, 2009  09:57 AM ET

I can't understand why anyone would be happy with any team folding up in Nascar. With the economy wrecking Nascar, this is just one of a few others that will fail. Enough failures and the whole house of cards falls.

I can't believe that anyone would be happy about any team folding up in Nascar. These are troubled times and I can't be excited over anyone losing a job. If enough fold, it will hurt Nascar overall.

OOOOPS Looks like the first post ran around in cyberspace for a while. Probably looking for Jr's new crew chief.

January 6, 2009  10:01 AM ET

Toyota has stopped manufacturing in Japan. I actually hate to see any team leave right now. See you around Staubach.

January 6, 2009  10:06 AM ET

no matter who you are, Toyota, Ford, Chevy, almost every team in nascar is going to go through some tough times ahead.

January 6, 2009  10:14 AM ET

Guys, your making me feel bad- I hope who ever is buying up the old team starts a new team.
HALL OF FAME was a Texas owned team that never made the grade, hopefully these let go workers will find work else where.
I am feeling the crunch as well, as I was laid off week before Christmas.

When U know nothing about Racing in Nascar. The end results is Bye Bye. it Proves Money cant Bye Everything.

January 6, 2009  10:33 AM ET

Even though this was a low grade team and a TOYOTA....it is still very sad to see......I am not a TOYOTA fan, but I don't want to see them fail either.
Ditto to what JK said.

January 6, 2009  10:39 AM ET

DITTO to what JK said......any team, and any car make folding, is sad to see.....if this keeps up they won't need to worry about the top 35 rules....there won't be 35 left.

January 6, 2009  10:40 AM ET

btw...I hate the top 35 rules....but I don't want to see it eliminated by teams closing down.

Daytona may be the only race that even matters, sadly. Can't see them filling the field for our race or Fontana, Phoenix.

Funny how things work out, yea, they were going to owe me a big time bonus in may of this year, guess they got out of that! I'm actually going to fly or drive up to Racine, WI for an interview. I've been wanting to go and see family up west of Chicago, and this Company is just 70 miles north of there.
Working for Retail Contractors close to home puts me on the road a lot, Maybe working for a Contractor far from home will get me work close to home?
It all works out in the end.

and yea, Merry Christmas it was NOT!
