06:14 AM ET 01.09 | Jason Kidd said when he becomes a free agent this summer, he would consider the Knicks because of his love of coach Mike D'Antoni and the Garden, even though he would have to take less than market value. Kidd always has enjoyed playing at the Garden. Though the Knicks have planned for the summer of 2010, adding Kidd this summer would be a drawing piece for LeBron James.

Here's a newsflash for you - LEBRON IS NOT GOING TO THE KNICKS!

Kidd can do what he likes, but there will hardly be much demand for a 35 year old point guard with a shot that's about as accurate as a 16th century musket.

please continue all the list of players who want to play for the knicks

ron artest (claims he will save them)
steve nash (more **** activity with one trick tony)
lebron james (nike)
j.crawford (wants to return to the knicks and play the rest of his career there

what a freakin joke!!!

Players want to go there as quickly as possible so they can try intice LeBron to join them and use LeBron to win a championship. Cause if I'm Kidd, I'm thinking 'Well Dallas' window for a championship is closed, I'm on my last legs, go to NY, wait a season, phone LeBron and Bosh, get them to sign with NY and help me win a ring then retire with at least one ring'

the knicks would not want him if they had any idea... they have put themselves in a great position why would they want to ruin that with kidd? he is a has been and wouldnt fit in dantionis system. they need a young distributer like rondo or someone like that doesnt need the spotlight( hard to find i no) then in 2010 sign a combo of bosh or amare with wade or lebron... i would go wade and bosh... and fill the gaps... spot up shooters slashing wingmen and a defensive rebounding big... the possibilitys are endless for new york in 2010... would not surprise me one bit if they screwed it up majorly but

It's perfect! Another guard that can't shoot--just what the Knicks need. Since he was able to turn the Mavericks around, I guess it's time to move on.

January 9, 2009  08:28 AM ET

Kidd would not be good in D'Antoni's system. D'A wants a PG that can shoot and take it to the hole. This is what JKidd is missing right now. He has no jump shot and he has hard time taking it to the basket. Kidd does have a set shot and lots of experience. His defense is still very good and he can still push the ball. Right now he is fitting into the Mavs system because they have a lot of shooters to feed to.

rondo>kidd in a dantoni system!?!? i would take a 40 yr old kidd (exaggerating some) over rondo in a dantoni system any day, you can't teach vision and timing. Yes rondo is younger and quicker but he doesn't know the first thing when it comes to being a legendary point guard.

NEWSFLASH!! LeBron is not going to leave CLeveland! I'll believe it when I see it. He owns that place. He is from Ohio. And there is absolutely NO reason to go to New York. Look this guy will go down as one of the greats. People follow talent, it doesn't have to be in New York city. Donnie Walsh, I love the guy and I know he isn't just sitting around, biding his time until LeBron gets to New York. This is nowhere near a done deal. In the end, I think James will stay put in Cleveland. I hope he will, because I would like to see him spend a dozen or so years in the same place, like most of the greats. And I don't know if Lebron has said anything about going to New York, but I hope hasn't. Because that would make me lose respect for him.

he already did and had that stupid episode with barkley who basically told lebron to **** and play ball.

Back to the story..........Kidd is old and not the answer. Please NOOOOOOOOO Knicks!

January 9, 2009  09:01 AM ET

you people are crazy... Kidd is still one of the best pure points in the league... If he goes to the knicks, i guarantee another superstar will follow in 2010. They already have a good core, so with a couple more pieces they'll be primed for a championship... "F" Boston...

jc did u read wat i wrote... gauranteed if james was there he would rather rondo than kidd. look at boston rondo doesnt mind that pierce handles the ball a fair bit.. rondo is unselfish and doesnt need or seem to want the spotlight.. lebron and wade the top 2 players knicks r after like to handle the ball. they will want the ball coming down the court more so rondo would fit better for sure kidd would be a waste of space with james or wade handling the ball so much.. rondo would be perfect with his pace and gets to the basket with ease.

anyway that wasnt my main point with wade or lebron u dont want a point that needs the spotlight u want someone LIKE rondo (i didnt say rondo only) that is happy to let the stars do there thing and is ready to help when needed. kidd would need to be involved to much

January 9, 2009  09:13 AM ET

stop it.....
any 78 year old player would play ANYWHERE for a contract.

January 9, 2009  09:16 AM ET

Kidd can be a valuable back up point guard. If he will take the veterans minimum he is welcome. But there will be competetion from Nash. Get Camby in the mix and you have a perfect retirement home.

somewhat agree but still disagree. Sorry I thought you meant just rondo which i thought u were crazy =/. I don't believe kidd desires or wants the spotlight, he knows he is on his last leg and is ok with that. I thought he did a great job during the olympics playing alongside the likes of wade, james, melo, etc who all like to handle the ball. But they all deferred to kidd and paul and deron to handle the ball because they knew it made them better and they put them in better spots to get good looks. Kidd is a great distributor and even in dallas and his last years in Jersey was always deferring to both Vince and Richard Jefferson.

i dont like kidd coming to the knicks. i mean c'mon the knicks need a bonafide stud not a has been. and kidd coming won't lure lebron or any other superstar available in the next two years or whenever they are going to be FA's. as mentioned he'll be a backup sooner than later
