His status on the team finally appears to match the number on his back. Andrew Raycroft, it would seem, is your new No. 1 Avalanche goalie. Raycroft's 43 saves led the Avs to a 2-1 victory Thursday night over a very good Chicago Blackhawks team, and coach Tony Granato indicated he'll go back to the man nicknamed "Rayzor" for Saturday's matinee against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. "He's earned the net," Granato said. "We said right from Day One that we were excited to have him and expected him to be a big part of our team. When he's been called upon, he's given us solid performances." Raycroft, the NHL rookie of the year in 2003-04, upped his record to 8-1-0. Unlike some of the previous wins that drew snickers from cynics, Raycroft was the best player on his team in this one. Although the young, talented Blackhawks missed on a couple of bids they'd no doubt love to have gotten back, Raycroft was tremendous throughout. Raycroft said he is finally starting to feel like his old self, like the player who at one time was considered one of the best young goalies in the NHL.

Every goalie has fluke games. He'll get blown out by the Pens.

It would be nice to see, but my team is having a hard time hitting the broad side of a barn at the moment.

They scored the 1st 3 goals last night but the D couldnt stop the Preds.

Goalies around the league are using the Pens to fatten up their stats.

The Pens are primed to turn things around, this might be the start

The Pens will probably make him look like he should be the west's allstar starting goalie.

why do you say that?

They've been in a free fall for about a month now, they are to good to be that bad.

Disturbing game last night. After the 3-0 lead some of the Pens looked like they shifted into neutral (once again). You sure could tell that Dupuis and Fedotenko weren't on the ice.

The passing is completely suspect. Hardly anyone is looking for a pass and then when they are skating to the goal they try to pass to a guy covered by his defender instead of shooting. Shoot the darn puck and stop this foolish pass fest. Some are starting to look like one-trick ponies.

Hate to say it but there are too many standing around waiting for someone else to start things up instead of being a self motivator.

Whitney's game was abominable last night. Couldn't keep the puck in and too hesitant to shoot on the power play.

Now that that is off my chest.......Go Pens.

The Avs are missing Sakic AND Stastny. I predict a 7-4 Pittsburgh win, with Malkin racking up 4 assists.

Pens fans can only hope for a good solid game.

Does anyone else on here think its a complete joke that all these Montreal players are even in the All-Star game, let alone starting?

Should have never shipped Malone. What we wouldn't give for a winger with some grit right now.
