McGrady backstabbing Yao?

This is the fifth season Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming have played together in Houston, so you'd think by now that everyone would be comfortable with their roles. Apparently not. McGrady has been privately complaining to friends in recent days about Yao taking too many shots and not being tough enough. Like McGrady has never been accused of either.

Yao is one of the most unselfish big men ever. Tracy is taking his frustration to the wrong man. He hasn't done anything for Houston anyway so they might as well trade him for Marbury's contract and use the savings to resign Artest or get into the Boozer sweep stakes.

they both are as tough as charmin

Question: what does The Daily News know about what was suppose to be a private conversation between friends in Texas?

January 11, 2009  10:25 AM ET

as they say in spanish "el burro hablando de orejas" (or translated something like" the donkey talking about ears") ,since when T-Mac has been labeled as tough? LOL...you can make the list of the 100 toughest NBA players and T-Mac wouldn't even make that list....

Probably just another quote taken out of context

January 11, 2009  10:36 AM ET

They both lack toughness, T-Mac is getting unsettled in Houston it seems, he can't help the fact he's getting older, is always injured and isn't a team leader really. He doesn't motivate players like Garnett and LeBron do, some people have it in them, some don't, and T-Mac doesn't. That's the reason he won't lead Houston to a championship because he's lost his killer instinct through age and injury, and he can't rally his troops to victory.

Couldn't agree more! You hit that just right.

A list of the 100 toughest? You can make a list of the 400 toughest, he wouldn't be on it. That's not far from the whole league but I had to save room for some of our European brethren like Dirk!

To be fair to Dirk here, Houston would take Dirk's softness over McGrady's anytime, anyday, for that means they are much, much closer to a Championship. Secondly, McGrady and Yao seem to have been respectful teammates to each other this whole time. Not sure how accurately McGrady is quoted here.

January 11, 2009  11:37 AM ET

The ironic thing is McGrady seems like the starting guard for All-Star game again this year. Even he himself said last year he didn't deserve it due to missing so many games to injuries.

January 11, 2009  12:15 PM ET

Both Yao and McGrady are overrated but at least Yao plays.

January 11, 2009  01:11 PM ET

i like mcgrady's idea of resting some games but why is he resting on some of the hard games

January 11, 2009  01:28 PM ET

Aside from Dwight, is there another center better than Yao today?

January 11, 2009  01:35 PM ET

a healthly t-mac is as good as any player in the league. its about time he pulls yao card he 7-6 and can't get a double double. haters lets think mcgrady is playing on one leg how real is that

I would argue that Shaq and Zach Randolph are better. For those of you Shaq haters out there, look at the numbers that the disel has been putting up. He has a higher field goal percentage, and he has finally learned how to make his free thows. He should be starting the all-star game instead of Yao

January 11, 2009  01:39 PM ET

t-mac when healthly is as good as anyone one in the league he only 29 so stop talking about him like he's 40. yao is soft he 7-6 and can't get a double double and if it wasn't for his height he wouldnt be in the league

I would argue that Shaq and Zach Randolph are better. Shaq actually has a higher field goal percentage, and has finally learned how to hit his free throws. In my eyes Shaq should actually be starting the all-star game instead of Yao.
