It is clear that a big-play target is atop the Giants' list of needs for next season. Could that target again be Plaxico Burress? "Sure, if everything goes right, yeah," general manager Jerry Reese said in the locker room following the game. "Absolutely." Burress has legal issues to deal with and possible incarceration, but Reese did not close the door on No. 17 again playing for the Giants.

Maybe after he serves his jail time!

January 12, 2009  07:08 AM ET

of course their welcome to him coming back after they see their no bueno without him.

January 12, 2009  07:08 AM ET

They need him...

January 12, 2009  07:33 AM ET

Yeah, he's immature and selfish and all that, but it is clear that without the deep threat,... well you get what was gotten yesterday

Shouldn't they go after somebody in free agency? This guy is going to be behind bars.

Its pretty obvious that his idiotic behavior cost this team. Those passes that were missed would have been in his hands. Drop him like a hot rock, once an idiot, always an idiot! Look at Pacman!

January 12, 2009  07:50 AM ET

Eli Manning completed 15 of 29 passes for 169 yards, 2 INT yesterday. He plays the Eagles a lot better when Plaxico is on the field.

January 12, 2009  07:51 AM ET

as a true member of the G-MEN he deserves to stay - at least he didnt shoot anyone else

plus he took down the new england cheaters in the superbowl with the winning TD and those jocksn1ffers will never live that down

If you have any talent, it is IMPOSSIBLE to misbehave your way out of professional sports.

January 12, 2009  07:52 AM ET

Unless they can get a top-notch playmaker some other way, better bring him back. Just put him on a short leash. Make him go to counseling so he remembers to keep his gun separate from his ammo or make sure the safety is on.

I saw Pacman's interview on ESPN.... They asked the idiot about his involvement in the shooting, and he went on to say how he's willing to race anyone who wants to race him.... What a dummy....

Yes, the Giants need a WR who can play jump ball and stretch the field. No, they shouldn't bring back Plaxico. A season is too long to rely on him in a league with a commissioner who is so concerned and involved with a players off field activities.

If he's back on the Giants team next year, I don't ever want to hear people say that it is the Cowboys and the Cowboys only that employ low life law breaking atheletes. Everyone has a price, I guess.

January 12, 2009  08:04 AM ET

Did Reese speak for Tom Coughlin also? I doubt it. Buress's absence cost the G-Men a playoff win against the much hated Eagles.

January 12, 2009  08:10 AM ET

He cost his team big time for his off field problems....
Jake D did same to Carolina with his on the field
embarassment.............Hey Cowboy fans...we will

January 12, 2009  08:10 AM ET
