Bulls players testing new coach

The Bulls have been testing coach Vinny Del Negro, with three players reportedly reacting poorly when he told them to stop eating in the locker room. It's a tiny team rule, but one that Del Negro is in charge of enforcing. Which he did, by the way. The players were fined. Joakim Noah, still not willing to understand his place on the hierarchy, was getting on Andres Nocioni not long ago. And Larry Hughes? If you told him there is no ''I'' in team, he'd point out that there is an ''m and an e.'' Too many of these guys are there for themselves, and that's partly out of a lack of regard for Del Negro. But that's the NBA. They test. They challenge. And that was part of the chance Paxson took in hiring him.

Vinny is a nice guy, but he's in over his head, and maybe even over his hair.

The Bulls need a Pat Riley type with enough respect and credibility to get the players into line. You can't expect a rabble to turn around with a rookie coach who wasn't known for being tough on the court.

been a long time since the mj days there in chi town

January 13, 2009  08:25 AM ET

Can you say Avery Johnson? They had a chance to hire Avery so that these things won't happen, but no they hired Vinny. These brats will continue to control the team until somebody teaches them a lesson.

I've watched these guys play a couple of times and other than Nocioni, Gooden and Rose there isn't a team first guy in their rotation. Every game becomes a race to see who can jack up the most shots and play the least amount of defense on their man or anyone else's man. Del Negro is just lost on the sidelines...which mimics the cluelessness of Paxson for assembling this collection of misfits. Firing Skiles was a mistake and then replacing him w/ a nanny was an even bigger mistake. Da Bulls are atrocious and won't be better anytime soon w/ this collection of losers

Don't know who wrote this article but I like the Larry Hughes crack. That was funny.

As far as the Bulls goes, they have some players they need to deal. It's clear that Hughes, and Noah both need a ticket out of town.

Bulls suck, so who cares? Let them eat all they want. Infact I suggest a Buffet be setup in the locker rooms. Invite Eddie Curry also pls.

January 13, 2009  10:01 AM ET

Joakim Noah is the biggest piece of trash that Pro Sports has ever seen. And, he isnt a good basketball player. I wish someone would take him out in an alley and beat him with a tire iron.

January 13, 2009  10:19 AM ET

His name is Vinny Del Negro & he is not a negro! LMAO

January 13, 2009  10:33 AM ET

seriously- the team sucks.
a couple of nice parts...no coach would win with this team

January 13, 2009  10:48 AM ET

Odds at 10 -1 he doesnt make it through the season. This team is really going no where as long as paxson makes the decisions, we have a group of lower level players telling the coach what they wanna do, Vinny has no respect from his players. I never thought i'd say this but bringing that fat **** Curry back wouldnt be that bad, at least we'd have someone who could score down low, it cant be worser then it is now.......Dwade is a free agent, I say trade or buyout Deng, package him gordon, tyrus and draft picks and lets get a superstar to team with Rose.

January 13, 2009  11:02 AM ET

Noah, Hughes, Thomas. They three need to be shipped out. Whatever happened to Deng? Never hear of him anymore, he was a budding all-star a couple seasons ago when the Bulls were actually a team on the rise. Big ups to Deng cause he's from the UK, Gordon has ties here too. Rose, Gordon, Deng, Gooden and Nocioni are nice parts, add a few more and a superstar and that's a good team.

January 13, 2009  11:36 AM ET

It's amazing how far and how fast this team has fallen. When they picked up Ben Wallace before the 2007-2008 season, after taking the Pistons to 7 in the playoffs, a lot of people considered them the favorites for the East title. Scrappy, great hustle, strong team defense and rebounding.....and now look at them! It's hard to believe.

January 13, 2009  11:46 AM ET

I think they had the tough guy last year in skiles (who i liked they were fun to watch) and he lost the team (Wallace),thats why they went this way. I agree with baller avery johnson would have been perfect and i think he could have helped rose out alot. They gotta get rid of hughes now!He came in game the other night and on 7 straight pos.shot everytime and vinny dahair didnt pull him out.

January 13, 2009  11:51 AM ET

Nice logo santo. Cant agree more,a buddy of mine works at cltv told me dont get excited bout wallace hes done and hes a cancer, and look what happened. All the young players listened to him whine and started doing the same thing and we lost a good coach.Plus we could have kept chandler for 10 mill instead of 15 mill.

January 13, 2009  12:04 PM ET

The bulls got what the asked for--a cheap inexperienced coach to handle a bunch of overpaid underacheivers. Del Negro would be better off trying to address the Bulls poor play, and worrying less about someone eating a sandwich in the locker room.

January 13, 2009  12:44 PM ET

Noah, what a piece of trash. Freaking fro boy, but this team can be better, if he grows up and understands his role. Especially with Hughes can accept it as well. Gordon is lighting it up. What happened to Deng this year though, watch out if this team gets to the potential they have they could make a run like the Hawks did last year. Derrick Rose is one of the best Rookies we have seen since Chris Paul or even the Jason Kidd and Grant Hill year where they shared the ROY award.

Ahhh the good old days. Its funny because I remember doing that same $hit in Highschool. I also remeber running horses until I puked.

January 13, 2009  01:12 PM ET

What really gets me is that Noah was a projected number 1 pick in the NBA draft if he would of left as a junior from college.

Many so-called experts were showering his game with praise because they can't tell the difference between college and the pro game. Now look at him.

He's a spastic, uncoordinated doofus weedhead with an attitude problem. Get rid of him.

January 13, 2009  01:43 PM ET

Whatever test they are taking....they fail! John Paxson needs to be fired and Vinny needs to be gone! what a waste of a season!!!
