Tiger taking full swings?

Rumors have been circulating that Tiger is making full swings at home in Florida, and that is certainly good news. Of course he is going to be ahead of schedule in his recovery; he is Tiger Woods after all. The one thing we know about Tiger is that he isn't going to come back until he feels like he is ready to win again. Does that mean he will return in a few weeks at Torrey Pines where he is virtually undefeated? Probably not. The tournament is only a few weeks away, and all prior speculation has been that we won't see Tiger before the Masters.

John Maginnes needs to get a life.

If Showboat comes back, fine.

If he doesn't, fine also.

Is this man love? right after tiger invented sliced bread and saved the world from itself, will now save the PGA from the economic downturn affecting the world. He could just be the next coming of our god

why anyone would not want the top player in the sport to come back is just ridiculous!!

January 13, 2009  11:41 AM ET

Not so ridiculous.

If a guy is a prick and a showboat and people don't like him, even if he is the best, it is natural for many not to want him back.

If you remove from the picture the imagination-starved media and some idol-worshippers, there are plenty of golfers and golf fans who can do very well without his return.

its absolutely ridiculous......who cares if he's a prick(as you describe him) or even a showboat which i completely disagree with. the guy is simply the best.....period. and will probably go down as the best ever. and you know it(but refuse to admit it) guys on tour absolutely want to play with and against the best just as in any other sport. quit tryin to portray him as some dope that disrespects the game. get over your dislike for the man and deal with it! tiger is not at all my favorite but i do enjoy watching him play.....and give credit where its due

AHH jonis you do get the massess stirred up, i love it!And for those of you who dont know i AM a Tiger fan but i like jonis as well, because he says what he feels and thats called HONESTY!

January 13, 2009  02:55 PM ET

Listen Al, our man Jonis realizes Woods isn't the be-all and end-all of golf. The game was here before him, and it will be here after him.

I've never heard Jonis say he hates Woods or that he doesn't recognize Woods accomplishments. There are other golf stories out there that don't involve the ongoing pheck-ups of John Daly and this "all Tiger all the time crap." We'd like to read 'em if the golf media would get off their collective dead arses and go find 'em.

And I mean something besides some pro golfer trying to muff-dive Kate Hudson.

The fact that this seemingly insignificant article generated 12 comments says all you need to say about the state of golf. Take a look at the number of comments for the next 5 or 6 articles.

Like it or not, it seems Tiger is golf.

This just in...after taking full swings, Tiger went inside and ate a PB&J sandwich.

January 13, 2009  05:22 PM ET

"The Tiger Comes Roaring Back" !!! Were there any doubters ??? I don't think so. Annika and Tiger on "the circuit" for 2009 - what a life !!!

People by nature cheer for the underdog, which is why people generally root for whoever he's playing against.
He's the greatest sports figure of our time and he'll continue to be, jump on board and enjoy what he does because your never gonna see anyone ever like him when he's gone!

January 13, 2009  10:29 PM ET

Golf needs him back ASAP.... How many of You watched a tournament other than a major after Tiger was injured?..... Me ZERO

January 14, 2009  08:10 AM ET

He's the most talented and one of the hardest-working people in sports today, yet he still gets hated on. Maybe it's the money and the banging Swedish model-looking wife, but he elicits more hate than any athlete, except maybe Tim Tebow!!

You seem to forget. Back when Arnie was playing it was "all Arnie all the time". Same thing with Jack. Why does everfybody think this all started with Tiger? Also, Jack was much more of a pr*ck in his day. I hardly ever comment here but there's a difference between disliking a player and hating a player. And we all know the game was here before Tiger, and it will be here after him. I remember how much racism was directed at Tiger when he first hit the tour. My CC restaurant was filled with racist comments that made me sick to be a member there. I'm no longer a member there. I don't mind comments filled with criticism but a comment backed by hate is another matter. The racism towards Tiger may have faded over the years but it's still there.

From what I read, Ben Hogan was not that much fun to be with either.

Thanks for telling us what "people" think about Tiger. Where did you buy your mind probing machine - the one that enable you to KNOW what everyone else thinks?

At the end of last season you appeared to have become a more rational participant in these discussions, but now we see that was merely a case of temporary sanity.

You've now reverted back to your old hate-mongering, blabbering, slobbering ways.
