Warriors-Hawks deal nixed

The Warriors seriously considered giving up second-year guard Monta Ellis in order to move up in Thursday's NBA Draft, but they never pulled the trigger, MediaNews has learned. According to a league source, the Warriors had a deal on the table that would send Ellis to the Hawks in exchange for the No.11 overall pick. The move up in the draft presumably would have been a first step toward getting one of the most promising players in the draft, Chinese forward Yi Jianlian.

im willing to eat my words if i have to but i just dont think this yi jianlian is going to be any good... yoa wasnt that good wen he got to the nba allthough he is a star now but yoa has better skills and more size that makes him the player he is i just dont see this skinny man going up against the big power forwards of the league in the post and on the boards... dont draft the uknown just to sell jerseys in china town...

this would be a bad deal for the Hawks...while Ellis could be a star someday in my opinion he doesnt seem to fit the Hawks' need. They would benefit most from the acquisition of a pass first point guard and Ellis doesnt seem to be that.....he seems very raw in many areas and definitely benefitted from not having to run a team because of Baron Davis, because I definitely dont think he is that kind of player.

With that said I'ma huge Monta Ellis fan, but like to see him stay where he is. I'm for the Conley Jr. to Atlanta movement!

I can't see them moving Ellis, especially for a chance to draft an unknown quantity in Yi Jianlian. Ellis is undeniably talented, plays his **** off and, with a little seasoning, could turn out to be the future of the franchise. To top it off, Warrior fans love him, and he's comparatively inexpensive.

why does everyone compare Yi to Yao? They are totally different other than they are Chinese....oh..i guess that why they get compared.

Wouldn't a better comparison for Yi be someone like Garnett? Nobody knocked Garnet's skills at the time because he was playing against my neighbors fat 16 yr old kid. People talk about unknown commodities and lack of competition but high schoolers vs Intl pro leagues?....C'mon...get some perspective

The Warriors had a good season and a great playoffs. They beat those ****' Mavs.

Never change a winning team. They finally have a good team after all those years. Why change it to get a rookie no one ever heard of until now?
