Ellis: I'm happy with Warriors, Nellie

Monta Ellis' first full practice of the season was distinguished by what he said as much as what he did. After trash talking through his most active workout yet, the rehabbing guard proceeded to trash any notions of being unhappy with the franchise he was re-signed to lead this past summer. "Listen, whatever it is about me leaving, wanting to go, I don't want to play for Nellie - that never came from my mouth," Ellis said Tuesday. "I don't know where they got that from, but I'm here for the next six years. I'm a Warrior. I'm going to always be a Warrior. Whoever put that out there did it because they wanted a story. "I'm making it known right now that I'm a Warrior," he continued. "I love playing for Nellie, and I never said (otherwise), not one time. So you don't have to worry about that. ... Only thing I'm worried about is getting back on the basketball court."

Thats right man... bash all those stupid little reporters who try to further their career by creating stories out of thin air..

January 14, 2009  08:38 AM ET

Everything is rumors in this page and nothing substantial. It's reporters making up stories just to make up stories. Ellis said all the right thing.

He's definitely a Warrior...just not the kind hat should be on mo-peds. The Warriors and Nellie stuck by him even through stupidity when they could have voided his new contract. The least he can do is be grateful to his team and coach.

Ellis is saying what we all want him to say. I am sure the truth is somewhere in the middle, but what he needs to do for now is to come back healthy and play.

That's all that matters.

January 14, 2009  09:26 AM ET

Why?

January 14, 2009  09:58 AM ET

Ellis may in fact be being politically correct in what he said, but he said it. Where did the writer get his information?

January 14, 2009  10:31 AM ET

he wants to be a warrior now-
but if he comes back to form and starts to play as well
or even better than last year....you know he'll start
b!tching/whing about wanting a pay raise or to trade him
(just as 99% of the players do)

January 14, 2009  11:41 AM ET

he just wants to play

Right On Monta! We need ya back when you're ready. I know for darn sure that you were the catalyst of the team last year. Your speed and penetration helped made the Warriors into the top caliber team lthey were last year. With you and Crawford in the backfield, you would be unstoppable. We, Warriors Fans, have to be patient and wait for his return. Think about it, B.D was an exceptional player for us, but it was Monta speed that changed the dynamics of the Warriors when he started his first season last year. I say, bring it back baby.

Monta was the catalyst of the team last year. His speed and penatration propelled the Warriors to a near 50-win team. With Crawford at the point, Monta will make life hard for other teams. Imagine....we have 2 guards with ankle-breaking moves that would change the dynamics of the team. I say, bring it back baby!

I think Monta would be better handling point guard duties. Jamal Crawford has too many turnovers. You're dumb if you think Monta was the sole reason the Warriors almost reached 50 wins last season. Did you forget about Captain Jack, B Diddy, and Harrington? Uhhh not to mention Pietrus and Barnes too DUH!

You are joking, right?

Baron Davis was the reason for that season.

When he returns, I can imagine that Golden State will have one of the highest scoring backcourts in the league, say Ellis gets like 20-25 points a night and Crawford the same. But the Warriors will still suck.. you know why?.. BECAUSE OFFENSE DOESN'T WIN TITLES!!!

The Warriors are a lottery team. Pray for a decent big man who fits Nelly's no-championship-winning-what-is-defense? offensive brand of basketball in the lottery (I'm thinking Greg Monroe) and keep it moving. Monta is a baller but the Warriors are a crappy team whose ceiling for this season is occasionally challenging for upsets at home. That's it

Oh give me a break. Void his contract because of a ride on a Moped. Who gets on one of those things ever thinking they could be injured! Give him a break. He's human.

Obviously some of you haven't been watching the games last year. I recall watching Monta play Baron hard in practice sessions. (seen only 2, thanks to a good friend). No doubt B.D was an exceptional player for us last year. The 2 tandems were a foce to reckon with. But the situatuation we are in, Crawford is the best candidate to replace B.D. He definitely has some sweet moves. And you can't deny that. Remember, Monta started his first season last year. I am a Warriors fan and I enjoy watching them play regardless of their record.
