Tiger Woods is back on the golf course, practicing at Isleworth Country Club near his home in Orlando, according to a news story on his web site, tigerwoods.com. "As I had hoped, after January 1, I started hitting longer irons and my driver," Woods said Monday. "I'm not swinging as hard as I can, but I'm working towards that goal." According to the web site, Woods has played a few holes with coach Hank Haney. He has not played competitively since he had ACL surgery on his left knee following his dramatic U.S. Open win at Torrey Pines in California last year. "So far my knee has held up well, but I don't know when I'll be able to return to competition," he said. "I'd like to thank everyone for their support and concern and I'm looking forward to rejoining the PGA Tour when I think that I'm ready."

The poor media folk are probably losing their collective minds on this.

He has to make it back for The Masters. The sport has taken a big hit with him missing two majors last year. I think he will be playing in April.......at least I really hope he is.

It's not the sight.

There is a dearth of articles which have any real substance to them.

It's the same with Golf Digest and Golf magazines. They are mostly filled with silly, meaningless garbage.

I think it's laughable that the media seems to be sinking into a self-induced coma without Showboat on the scene.

Frankly, with the "throwing the cap on the ground" clip that the Golf Channel plays 24/7 I get all I want of him as it is without him currently being in the mix.

I used to dislike Tiger, probably because he was winning everything, but know I realize how great he is and that the PGA needs him.

January 14, 2009  02:21 PM ET

Yeah, and the economy needs him back to get those kids in 3rd world countries making his accessaries (Nike TW) for 2 cents/hr - to get those factories up & runnin again...

Like I said yesterday, he's the only golfer who generates any real discussion on this site. That's why he comes up over and over again.

Has Golf.com reported yet on what Tiger had for lunch and dinner?

January 14, 2009  06:36 PM ET

Who gives a FAT RATS ASS about Tigger Poo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January 14, 2009  09:52 PM ET

Funny, I never used to like Tiger but that gradually changed when I started to see how much he has changed the modern sport of golf. Professional sports needs somebody like Tiger to dominate every now and again. Gives the rest of the field something to shoot for and keeps those pathetic writers employed. Hockey had Gretzky, Basketball had Jordan, baseball had.....well forget baseball, too hard to sort out the drug users!!!!!

The bottom line here folks is that he is entertaining to watch, period!!
