New Broncos coach reaches out to Cutler
After a couple of missed connections and a game of phone tag, new Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels finally got to speak with quarterback Jay Cutler on Wednesday. McDaniels told a local television station that the two had "a great back-and-forth" conversation as they discussed what type of offense McDaniels is going to have Cutler run next season. "We had a great conversation about where we're going, what we're going to do and some of the things we've done in New England in the past and some of the things they did here," McDaniels said. "We had a very, very lively conversation. I can't wait to meet him." Cutler left Denver for vacation just hours after the team returned from San Diego on Dec. 29 and has not been back in town or spoken publicly since McDaniels was hired. The distance - not to mention McDaniels' hectic schedule during his first days on the job - meant the two had to exchange messages for a bit before finally connecting. McDaniels told reporters Monday that establishing a relationship with Cutler will be important to him, and that he intends to work closely with the quarterbacks.

McDaniels will redeem the Belichick coaching tree. Bowlen made a good choice.

I think Cutler is too much of a Prima Donna to not give McDaniles big ones in camp this year.

How much will McD bust Cutler's nads when he makes a mistake by saying "Brady wouldn't do that..." Or even more of a dig, "Matt Cassel would have made that throw..."

Ahahaha, well said. I thought the PLAYERS worked for the COACH. As they discussed what offense they would run. That conversation should be "Jay, you will run THIS offense." Jay says "OK". Over and done with.
I think McD will be a good coach, but Denver looked veeery shaky this year. And if firing Shanny was the answer, it was a stupid question.

I agree with you DanThe Man. McDaniels was very successful in New England, granted with Brady at the helm, but Cassels faired well this past seasin under the McDaniels' offense. He will have his hands full with the Denver quarterbacks, in terms of getting them to buy into his approach, but at least he is starting with a very good Denver team, both offensively and defensively. Should be an interesting season for Denver as the enter the "McDaniels Era".

Here's the deal. The offense is fine - when healthy (7 backs out last season did not help). Josh needs to focus on the defense - that's the issue, they ranked, what 30th in the league. NUH - UH. Can't have that........What too look for who will be the Def Cord????

I'm sure McDaniels will hire a stud coordinator and work the draft board to address the Bronco's defensive shortcomings. He'll work with Cutler to cut down on his picks especially those costly ones.

Think Bill Walsh/Joe Montana, Shula/Marino, Shanahan/Elway, and Coryell/Fouts people. The next incredible coach/QB combination in the NFL!

what makes people say cutler is a primadonna? he complained when they fired the coach he really cared for, so what. it wasn't like he threatened to walk. he made one statement and has been quiet since.
mcdaniels and cutler are going to work well together.

A lively conversation! I have met Jay a couple times in local bars, he is anything but lively... He always acts like he hasn't slept in a couple weeks. What a dumb article. Hey this just in, the people on the broncos team are talking to each other, sweet!

You clowns don't know jack about football if you're trashing Cutler. He's got a canon and he threw for 26 touchdowns. The Denver D is a joke. That is the problem.
