Why Roach is helping Arlovski

09:15 AM ET 01.17 | Freddie Roach has been working with Andrei Arlovski, a former UFC heavyweight champion, on his boxing skills (mixed martial arts [MMA] professionals call it striking). Some purists might view mixing boxing and MMA a lot like mixing oil and water, but Roach said he doesn't see much difference when it comes to throwing punches. "If anyone comes to me and they want me to help them and they have the dedication and the desire to train hard like Andrei does, I'm going to help them any way I can," Roach said. "I don't dislike any sport. A good fight is a good fight. I don't care if it's a boxing match or MMA. I just like great fights. If I can bring out the best in somebody and help them better themselves, I'm going to do it." True to his competitive nature, Roach has been talking some trash about Fedor, the stoic Russian who is considered by many the best heavyweight on the planet. Roach has criticized Fedor's footwork to the point of making him sound clumsy.
