04:47 AM ET 01.20 | Word around the NFL is that the Dallas Cowboys are very interested in obtaining Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis if he becomes a free agent. The speculation is that the Cowboys are willing to give Lewis a three-year deal worth between $27 and $30 million, with $25 million guaranteed. Dallas owner Jerry Jones believes his team is in the serious hunt for a Super Bowl title next season, and that Lewis could help solve some of the team's problems inside the locker room. The Ravens are expected to begin negotiations with Lewis, who is in the last year of his contract, as soon as the season is over. Fellow linebackers Bart Scott and Terrell Suggs are also in the final years of their contracts.

Zach Thomas was suppose to bring leadership and solve problems with the defense and that didn't work so now Jerry thinks Ray Lewis is the solution??? When is the owner Jerry Jones going to realize he is the problem and someone who can coach, draft, and lead a team starts with a strong Head Coach not an owner!

Seems an obvious fit. He'll be a good fit in Dallas, which is quickly overtaking Baltimore as "the" team of murderers and thugs.

Seems like a good fit, especially since Dallas is quickly overtaking Baltimore as "the" NFL team filled with murderers and thugs. Ray Lewis, where MVP = Most Valuable Prisoner.

i really hope this doesnt happen, ray lewis is the face of the Baltimore ravens and hes been a raven forever, i hope the ravens are able to make him a respectable offer, if he went to a garbage team like the cowboys it would be a crushing blow to the spirit of the Baltimore defense.

I always like to see legends finish their career where it started.

How many more malcontents and veterans on the downside of their careers is Jerry going to bring in before he realizes that it doesn't work. If Lewis comes to Dallas, it's strickly for the big payday....he too smart to think that his huge ego would mesh with all the other huge ego's in this locker room. He'll just add to the problem....

Ray Lewis is the undisputed leader of the defense for the ravens, without rex ryan, the ravens are going to need ray lewis to continue their defensive intensity, lets face it, the baltimore offense is going to need alot more time to develop, if the raven's defense takes a plunge, they could be a 5-11 team again.

Jerry - This isn't fantasy football. You actually have to have players that get along and can play together.

January 20, 2009  06:57 AM ET

i hate the cowboys, but mostly i hate jerry jones because he treats the nfl like its fantasy football.

DEAR JERRY: you are not the patriots, you arent going to bring in players like T.O. and Pacman jones and be able to successfully salvage them like randy moss.

January 20, 2009  07:03 AM ET

im sure there would be more teams other than the cowboys that would be interested in the cowboys....all of u bashers and haters no that for a fact as well. he's a proven leader and makes everyone around him better and has been proven he still has some in the tank

January 20, 2009  07:05 AM ET

He's a great player but trying to learn a new system at his age could be hard.

January 20, 2009  07:24 AM ET

The Ravens have some serious issues if they have to try to sign all 3 of those LBs.

January 20, 2009  07:26 AM ET

He's not going to leave Baltimore, ain't gonna happen.

Now, he may have a little fun with this free agency thing, but in the end, at his age, he'll stay in Baltimore.

Jerry....QUIT just collecting players!!!!

agree. good post. Jones is an idiot

January 20, 2009  07:56 AM ET

You all are wrong....bringing in the Ray Lewis would bring discipline and Leadership on that team.....nobody on the cowboys would step to Ray....Ray Lewis had one off the field incident early in his career, where he got in trouble for not snitching.....the very next season he wins the MVP....never another off the field incident....and to say he doesnt bring leadership!?!?!?!?you sound like a hating *****.....stop letting your emotions get the best of you....theres not one person in this blog that can tell me that RAY LEWIS is not a leader.....every time i see a ravens game I see Ray lewis on the side line giving a pep talk to his teamates....walking up and down the sidelines trying to keep his teamates up.....even when its obvious they're going to lose....Name 3 guys in the NFL you see do that?.....Most of you sound like you know nothing about football...stop letting your personal feelings get in the way..

What jerry wants jerry gets!! Lewis AND dware! Wooow

January 20, 2009  08:09 AM ET

Include Boldin for the Cowboys also. They need more "ME" guys or thugs in the locker room. Add Ocho Cinco and Burress in the mix. Pacman will be back next year for sure. And add Michael Vick for a trade for Romo to make everything complete. And bring back Quincy as a backup. Also bring back that stupid kicker that they had and played for Indy.
