Knicks music irks Gallinari
Danilo Gallinari gave the crowd a thumbs- up for its support Monday but he's not as excited about the music selection the Knicks are using after he scores. Gallinari scored nine points, including his first NBA dunk in Monday's 102-98 win over the Chicago Bulls. After each of his four baskets, the Knicks' long-time public address announcer Mike Walczewski, using a thick Italian accent, said "Daneeelo Gal-lin-ar-ay" and then the Italian songs "Volare" or "That's Amore" were played. When asked about hearing his name, Gallinari said: "I need to talk a little bit with them about that. Because it's not so good, the pronunciation. I will talk about that. As for the music, no, not so good." Mike D'Antoni was somewhat surprised by the music selection himself and looked at the scorer's table after Gallinari's first basket. Apparently, Gallinari would prefer to hear a more updated, age-appropriate song. Also, the Italian journalists who attend Gallinari's home games said the song stereotypes Italians.

Just let the guys play ball. I went to a Hawks game and they damn near shot off fireworks after every basket. The game is good enought to stand a lone without all the bells and whistles.

plays a total of 4 games all season and **** about the music and pronounciation... man would i like to be his father to smack him around a few times and put him in his place.... once you are a somebody in the NBA then worry about music and pronounciation.. till then... if they play "Like a virgin"... you shut up and work on ur game.

Another non story that's made into a big story just to get the Knicks in the rumor mill. The kid needs to shut up anyways. He missed to much games and has not shown anything yet. To show attitude before having a good game in the future is uncalled for. If Starbury can't get his ways then why would this rookie get his ways. Just shut up and play. This includes everybody in the Knicks roster.

Obviously he shouldn't be even paying attention to that stuff-
But in fairness....they're basically stereotyping him with that music- it kinda is wrong.

He need not worry about the music. He's had a couple solid performances, but he's clearly not ready for starting time. He just needs to keep the good play up.

Yeah its pretty stupid but it is really bush league in my opinion that a state as secular and diverse as New York has to play dumb Italian songs when the kid scores. We get it he's an Italian national wow, italian music how hiliarious, big deal.
I would expect something this lame from some arena in Texas.

Agree with you about Ewing Jr. It's about time they do the right thing by him. The kid has done all they have asked of him.

Agreed. Some intricate things mean a lot to a lot of people...they need to change the song and heck they need to have a clang song for every brick as well.

I say play the "Godfather" movie theme every time he messes up on defense. Use it as a strategy to piss him off every time he makes a stupid play.
In fact, look for what the players hate in music and play it when they suck.

The draft position is the GM's call, not the player's. Agree, he should focus more on his game, but the buck stops at the GM's door to justify or not-justify a high-draft pick.

He is in the the D-League. He is playing for Reno, and maybe just maybe his name has something to do with his consideration.
