Arizona sways Michigan commitment

Dewayne Peace was ready to play for Michigan. Then the Wolverines pulled a switch on him. Arizona will reap the benefits of Michigan's decision. Instead of being a wide receiver, as Michigan coaches originally told Peace, the Wolverines decided they wanted him to play cornerback. "I changed my mind immediately," Peace said. "I (committed) there to play receiver." Peace will end up playing for UA instead as a receiver. The 6-foot, 175-pound wideout from South Grand Prairie (Texas) High School gave an oral commitment to the Wildcats on Tuesday.

Doesn't make any sense to me really, because we need WR just as bad as DBs...

Best of luck in Arizona...

Yawn..... why go to the only Pac-10 team that's NEVER been to the Rose Bowl. He didn't have offers from any other schools?

January 28, 2009  11:44 AM ET

At least UM lost this one because they were being honest with him. And I say that as an OSU fan. Pete Carroll would have just let the kid think he was being recruited as a WR and switched him to DB after he committed and reported to camp (like he did moving Fred Davis to TE).

January 28, 2009  11:48 AM ET

Not a huge loss, that is if Je'ron Stokes commits like most expect.

Not exactly. They more or less let him go when they told him he wouldn't be a WR. Sounds more like the schools choice than the kids.

AH look another chip on your shoulder whinny ohio state fan. Yea you can ask Fred Davis if he is upset with the change and his career. You are just pissed he did'nt go to osu were he would of wasted away as a receiver. At USC he won a NC in 2004, in 06 he had over 350 yards in receiving, in 2007 he won the Mackey award for the Nations Top Tight End and I believe signed a 4 year near 5 million contract with the Redskins. Oh yea and he holds the record for most catches and yards in a game by a Trojan. Yea bad choice. NEXT!
