Where will one-and-done Walls sign?

In John Wall's lean, 6-foot-4 frame is packed the ability to dribble a ball at a sprinter's speed before delivering a perfect pass, to throw down a one-handed jam from eye level with the rim, to weave through opposing players to get to the basket. The fuss is all about what the point guard could do. He could turn a rising program at Baylor into a national power. Or satiate a starved N.C. State fan base and save coach Sidney Lowe's job. Or give Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski his most explosive playmaker since Jason Williams. Or make Miami games a happening. Or again stamp Kansas as an NCAA title favorite. Or follow Derrick Rose at Memphis to the NCAA final and the No. 1 spot in the NBA Draft. He could accomplish any of these in less than a year. But John Wall doesn't come without conditions. Like Rose, he'll be "one-and-done," playing college ball as a freshman before jumping to the pros, he and his closest advisers say.

This is what we get for giving high school athletes national media attention. I dont care how good he is. Once he goes to the NBA my interest will wane.

His closest advisors???... You mean the handfull of people who are looking to ride this Gravy Train until this poor kid can't help them anymore???... Why even go to school then???... Just head to Europe and play for a year.... Why take away the scholarship of a kid who actually wants to get his degree???... Man this kinda situation ticks me off

I totally agree, I guess he can't get enough Media coverage in Europe and may slip a couple of slots in the draft. But this one done thing is a disaster.

N.C. State nor Duke will take a risk on him. There have been recent unsettling concerns raised about him and his "advisors ". Kansas or Baylor can have him.

There is something that needs to be done about the one and done deal. Either let him go after high school or force the kids to stay two years. What is this kid going to do for one year. He is not going to go to class. Why? Everybody knows he is going after his first year, who cares if fails in class he knows he's gone after that first year anyway. Coaches don't have control over the "student athlete", the professors don't and clearly the schools don't!

More coaches need to man up and only sell their programs to kids committed to staying a minmum of three years... why cater to a kid with so much talent that they will change the dynamic of a team for one year, then to have that kid pack up and leave leaving a big hole for the "team" mates left to fill... college is a stepping stone, but not like this... I'll get off my stump now...

when it comes down to it you should not be forced to play college ball in order to play in the NBA. Does anyone know if you can play in the NBDL out of highschool?

As great as this kid is supposed to be, as a Duke fan I hope he doesn't come to Durham if he's just going to be one and out. That will do us more harm than good, in my humble opinion.

I wish him luck in whatever he direction he chooses.

Lmao. I hear you. But I think this kid is definitely 1 & done and it boggles my mind why Coach K even offered the guy a scholarship when he knows he's not gonna stay more than a year. In the end, I see him choosing Baylor or Memphis. Baylor because his AAU coach is now on the coaching staff, what a coincidence right? lol Or Memphis because their dribble drive offense and all the free crap Coach Cal is offering.

One and done players are not the end of the world. Memphis has had a few and it has not hurt them. Do you think Syracuse would go back and refuse to let Carmelo play, giving up a championship? Has it hurt Carmelo? College sports are a complete farce, as far as the illusion that being an amateur or student is more important to anyone involved than winning and making money for the school (as far as the big sports go, anyway). Arguing about whether kids should go to a school for one year, or two, or none, before becoming a professional athlete is **** in the wind. If John Wall wants to come to your school, let him, enjoy the success, and wish him well when he leaves.
