Earnhardt wanted piece of Vickers
Dale Earnhardt Jr. made two mistakes off the track Sunday, but it was the one on the track that was the most costly. With bad weather closing fast and drivers thinking time was running out in the Daytona 500, Earnhardt on Lap 124 tried to dip to the inside of Brian Vickers as the two battled to get back on the lead lap. Vickers moved low to block Earnhardt's advance and both went below the yellow line. As they moved back up toward the racing groove, Earnhardt's Chevrolet hit Vickers' Toyota, triggering a nine-car wreck. Earnhardt was a lap down at the time of the wreck because he had stopped outside his pit box during the previous caution. That was his second pit-road mistake of the race. He had completely missed his pit during a caution early in the race and had to make a second stop. n an interview during a rain delay, Earnhardt denied he had wrecked Vickers intentionally. "I got a run on him. He saw me coming. I got a big ol' run on him and I went to the inside," he said. "I didn't try to make any late move or some surprise. He went to block me and hit me and sent me down to the grass. "I tried to recover my car and I got back into him coming back up the race track. I don't hate it for him, but (I do) for everyone else that got wrecked." Apparently the incident lingered with Earnhardt. During a caution more than 20 laps later, Earnhardt radioed his crew and said, "Tell Vickers if he wants to meet me in the garage to get his ass beat, I'm willing."

The Junior haters and the Junior lovers are going to have a field day with this one.
My opinion is that what he did was wrong and that he caused that wreck.
He went down low and if would of passed vickers after going below the line, it would not of counted. he came back up agressivly without slowing down clipped
vickers and the rest is history. When you look at it. it appears that JR clipped him on purpose.
I like JR but this seemed spiteful to me.

Jr. needs to get his head in the game. He can't blame his equipment, that's for sure.
The late starting time didn't work, either.
And FOX needs to lose that freakin rodent!

#88 your a piece of shi_, and your lucky no one got killed as
you took the field out on purpose. You should be fined and
suspended for a few races. Just cause your head was up your
own arse and missed your pits one time, and could not get
your car in a second time you take the field out..even though
you were already a lap down? Your dad would not even had
pulled that crap as dirty as he was. I wish Vicker's would kick
your red neck arse!

Maybe they should set up a cage match btw the drivers.....a little mixed martial arts to keep
NASCAR fresh....the rednecks would love it ..NASCAR would give free admission cuz the fans
only saw the Daytona 380.

The only way Jr. could have avoided getting into Vickers was to lift off the gas. You do that at Daytona (or Talledega) and you risk the whole field driving through your back window. The crash was unfortunate, but not intentional and is more the result of restricter plate racing than sloppy driving.

Ok all you Earnhardt Jr haters....have at it. That wasn't exactly the best way to take out his frustrations, but in that Kyle Busch had been blocking Jr earlier (and for many many laps) and Vickers still owed one from Talledega from two years ago, what the heck....Jr got it all out in one shot. It is apparent that all the arguments for or against "blocking" aren't gonna get resolved any time soon. One thing for sure, some of these OBVIOUS blocks are becoming a pain and sooner or later NASCAR will say enough already and start black flagging some of these stunts. In my book, the Stewart - Busch blocking on the final lap in the Nationwide series was alot different than Vickers block. But to be perfectly honest, Vickers got what he deserved, if for no other reason than as a payback! It is unfortunate however, that so many other good cars got caught up in the mess. That fact alone, should probably have gotten Jr blackfagged for the rest of the race. Guess Jr. still carries on the family tradition because Sr. would have nailed Busch earlier in the race for his blocking. Love 'em opr hate 'em, they still make for exciting racing! Guess where I sit??????

someday we will all realize that Dale Jr is an average driver at best, and he is living off of his dads name. he will never win a title. watch him in interviews at the track, pre race post race, whenever-he just sounds like he doesnt even want to be there.
He wanted to fight? BFD! if his daddy was still around he would have kicked Jr's **** for the stupid stunt he pulled when he wrecked 1/2 the field in the Daytona 380

What was Vickers thinking? One lap down and you know you have one of the fastest cars behind you because of a dumb rule (but a rule none the less) and you run the guy down in the grass. Now that was just stupid! The best thing about it was seeing Kyle Bush getting smacked into the wall and out of the race. As we can tell cleetis27 doesn't know sh-- about racing and to say the Earnhardts don't have class or that Jr. drives like his dad. You should try and watch some racing because it's quite obvious you don't because Jr.'s driving style is a lot more conservative than the GREATEST DRIVER IN HISTORY OF THE SPORT!

way I look at it, Vickers shouldn't have blocked him down to the apron in the first place, he knew Jr. would have to come up behind him to get back on the track. was it payback from a few years ago? who knows, Jr. was having a bad day and Vickers just made it worse by doing what he did. really they're both at fault here.

Lots of aggressive driving during that part of the race. Crew chiefs and spotters in the drivers ears telling them they have to go that rain is coming. Junior gets that big run and Vickers blocks him to the grass. At that point is Jr. suppose to drive in the grass with the turn coming up, causing a huge bottleneck behind him and big wreck or try to gently move up on the track hoping that Vickers will move out of the way?
Jimmy Spencer said on Speed Channel's "Victory Lane" that Junior wrecked Vickers intentionally and should have been penalized the same as Jason Leffler was in Saturday's Nationwide race. Well Mr, Spencer, there was no intent to wreck Vickers. There was intent on Junior's part after he thought about how stupid Vickers was to meet him in the garage to open up a can of him.
Jimmy, you must have forgot the little incident you had at a Brickyard 400 one year between you and Mr. Kurt Bush. Remember that little bump going into turn 1 where you put Busch in the wall and ended his day? Yeah...that's the one. If you're going to be as critical of Junior, you should reevaluate what you did that day. Maybe that's why you're sitting in a studio chair rather than a driver's seat on Sunday.

i don't care if you are a Jr fan or hater, but i will say that what Jr did was wrong. you can't take out your frusteration with you team, your car, or yourself for missing your pit, and being over the line with a racecar... he has a chip on his shoulder, and it needs to disappear before he kills himself or someone else....
I really wish that FOX racing team DW, Larry and Mike joy would stop kissing his butt all the time, especially DW.. i realize the are like family, but keep their personal lives out of it...

Little E is by no means half the driver that his late father was. That said, his driving at Daytona was deplorable. He should be penalized both $$ and points, plus probation for the remainder of the season. While I kind of like Dale Jr he has been a disappointment in the cup series. He began his cup career the same year as did Kenseth. Kenseth was the rookie of the year. Kenseth has a cup championship. What is Dales problem? He just isn't that good.

If Junior wasn't a great driver he wouldn't be were he's at. If you are afraid to get wrecked then you have no business being in NASCAR. Wrecks are going to happen regardless if they are intentional or not. If you don't want to see any wrecks or reckless driving driving, then you shouldn't watch NASCAR either. I would hope that everyone making a comment actually watches and knows what they are talking about.

It seems that Jr. gets a bye in whatever he does. Notice how Stewart let him lead a lap so he could get his 5 bonus points? When Gordon came up behind Stewart he didn't let him pass to do the same thing. Jr. was wrong in what he did to Vickers, regardless of their history. Of course Kyle Busch is going to block him. That's racing. But to intentionally take out Vickers then a handful of cars, including the fastest car of the day, is just wrong. He made errors yesterday that most rookies don't make. One pit mistake is almost excusable but two? What part of "professional" driver applies to him. If I was Rick Hendricks I think I'd have a stern talk to the boy. Emphasis on the word "boy".

Not when you're a lap down, at the front of the field, and take out the race leaders. That's just wrong.

I have raced for many years and I can say this, the track has many lines to race on and if Im going to be blocked when I set my car up to pass and Im taken all the way to the paint then expect to take what I have for you. Nascar should take mirrors out of cars, let the drivers race ! Nothing I hate more than MIRROR DRIVERS Race me dont block me ! Does not matter who the driver is, you block you will either get moved or wreck the choice is yours.
