ACC coach: Bryce Brown's no Adrian Peterson

When looking for an honest opinion in recruiting, it's always good to speak to a college coach not involved with a recruit. So I contacted a coach at an ACC school for an evaluation of Bryce Brown, the No. 1-ranked player in the country. ``Well, he isn't Adrian Peterson at the same age,'' the coach said.

of course he's no AD

And in related news, (insert #1 QB recruit's name) is no Dan Marino. Also, (insert #1 SG's name) is no Michael Jordan. Geez. Can we let these guys make their own names on the field.

I don't even think he would be the best freshman RB on the team if he ends up at Miami

February 16, 2009  09:41 AM ET

Sour grapes. I'm sure the coach didn't even get a sniff. Not that Brown is in the same class as Peterson, but who cares what Coach X from School Y thinks about him?

February 16, 2009  10:18 AM ET

Bryce Brown will be a huge bust. Karma is a beeyatch!

February 16, 2009  12:53 PM ET

Wait a minute... I thought commenting on a recruit that hasn't signed an LOI is a violation... Shouldn't we be hearing about a school self-reporting a secondary violation in the next couple of days???... Will be refreshing to see someone who isn't named Kiffin on the hook

Mr Brown, I have been a big fan of yours. There was a time I was elated that you committed to the U. At this point, I do think it's important for your own sake, to commit now, commit anywhere your heart desires, but commit for the the love of God! I would also recommend that you drop the "Butler Act." It is doing you no good, will do you no good. In the end, it will be be you and your actions that are judged. Do the right thing, NOW. The world will not wait for you, it's going to go on with, or without your decisions.

He's not trying to be like AD. He's trying to be like Tyrelle Pryor.

February 16, 2009  01:50 PM ET

Go away....miami doesn't want u!!

February 16, 2009  02:53 PM ET

I'm much more interested in getting David Oku than Bryce Brown.

February 16, 2009  02:57 PM ET

Why would they ask an ACC coach to evaluate talent, obviously they know nothing about that.

And in further breaking news, Adrian Peterson was the most over-rated college running back ever, who never actually accomplished anything and whose greatest college win came against the Oregon Ducks in the Holliday Bowl.

February 16, 2009  03:29 PM ET

This guy is a player first and foremost. We don't if he will be better than AD, he hasn't even played a game in college. As for the coach, he would like to have him no matter what he said. I do think it is crazy that the NCAA doesn't put a timeframe on players where they have to commit or they can't play their freshman year. Im sure we aren't far off from that happening.

so the teams he was on didn't accomplish much, so HE (AP) was overrated?

4,057 yards, 41 TD's, on 747 attempts for YPC of 5.43 - and this was with games missed b/c of injury.

Last I checked he seems to be doing alright in the NFL too. For the most overrated RB in history look up Bush, Reggie.

February 16, 2009  06:55 PM ET

Well, who exactly was as good as AD as a freshman? Duh.....

And on another note Reggie Bush was the greatest RB to ever play the game, hah hah hah.

He's not even the best RB in the state of Oklahoma this year but good luck with that!

That's funny, a USC fan bashing another conference. At least the ACC is still a Division I conference. Isn't the Pac-10 considered like NAIA by now? There are no less than 4 teams in the ACC who would beat the second best team in the WACK-10. Get it? Your conference is WORSE than the ACC, by FAR.

BTW, you're a USC fan, but you have a short memory. It was only 11 years ago that FSU and USC finished a home-and-home series with each other. That must have stung, travelling all the way across the country to get your butts handed to you... especially when WE travelled all the way across the country the year before and beat you at YOUR HOUSE too.

This is called abusing a moron, and it goes like this:

>>At least the ACC is still a Division I conference. Isn't the Pac-10 considered like NAIA by now?<<

Nah, the Pac-10 is still a BCS conference, when is the last time an ACC team played in a game that was even relevant on a national scale? The #24 team vs. the #16 team in the Orange Bowl every year makes the consistently WORST (or most irrelevant) BCS bowl of them all.

>>There are no less than 4 teams in the ACC who would beat the second best team in the WACK-10. Get it?<<

How did your 2nd best team do against Cal? That's right Miami got BLOWN OUT by Cal in the Emerald Nuts in your mouth bowl.

>>It was only 11 years ago that FSU and USC finished a home-and-home series with each other. <<

Relevant programs don't have to go back over a decade to grasp at straws. USC just smoked Virginia by 30 points AT VIRGINIA, and USC smoked Virginia Tech on the road a couple years ago. Beating the ACC teams doesn't score points with anybody.

How did the ACC do in Bowl Games this season? How did the Pac-10 do? There's no comparing the two conferences. The ACC has a lot of parity, but who wants parity with a bunch of teams that can't compete Out of Conference. Stick with duking it out with the Big East in your bowl game, you don't want the Pac-10 teams to curb stomp you anymore than they already do.
