08:07 AM ET 02.22 | According to Shalise Manza Young of the Providence Journal, the Pats and Bills appear to be the top candidates to land veteran running back Fred Taylor, who was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this week in a salary-cap move. Taylor, 33, is expected to visit both teams this week. He is represented by Drew Rosenhaus.

Fred Taylor in the backfield for New England. They carry a lot of depth, so depending on the salary, this could be a very good move.

Buffalo needs someone else.. Lynch is going to end up suspended soon if he keeps acting the way he is now.

February 22, 2009  09:03 AM ET

If true Fred will be in New England next year. Unless, he is looking for a quick pay day before he retires.

33yo running back? Not good odds.

Naw, Fred is still a player. He went to his first pro-bowl the season before last. Last season, he had one lineman get shot, and a bunch more of them get hurt in some way or another. With a solid line I still think Fred Taylor is good for about 1100+ with 6+ touchdowns.

Hope so. It's somewhat weird talking about a 33yo at the end of his career. Wish him well.

Yeah, he has been nothing but a class act since he has been in the league. Got hurt too much early on. He is like the NFL's Ken Griffey Jr.

The fact that he has Drew Rosenhaus as his agent just turned my coffee cold.

Pour it out and get another cup. Keep it away from any mention of you know who.

Dude, it's spelled S-A-T-A-N ... or is that Boras' real name?

February 22, 2009  10:47 AM ET

If Lynch was not on the path to suspension I would say that Buffalo has little to no need to try and get Taylor...unfortunately Lynch is proving again and again that he can not be relied on.

February 22, 2009  10:58 AM ET

good move he will split time wherever he ends up and when healthy he can put up numbers

February 22, 2009  11:00 AM ET

always liked fred taylor... a warrior has that has come back from major surgeries... have to think that if you can get him at a good price he'll help on and off the field... arguably a HOF...
Go ahead, give me grief

February 22, 2009  11:01 AM ET

If he has a choice, whicjh he does, he'll go to the Patriots. Buffalo is a wasteland
