07:56 AM ET 02.27 | Alex Rodriguez won't be getting any rides from Cousin Yuri anytime soon - at least not to the ballpark, anyway. One day after A-Rod was chauffeured from Dunedin Stadium back to Tampa by his cousin Yuri Sucart, the Yankees met with the third baseman to inform him that Sucart was no longer allowed anywhere near the team. "Yuri won't be around anymore," a source with knowledge of the meeting told the Daily News. "They can't stop him from hanging out with him away from the ballpark, but he won't be at the ballpark."

What was he thinking? The only thing that could have made it worse is if the trainer was in the SUV with the 'cousin'.

February 27, 2009  08:13 AM ET

A-Roid has got to be one of the stupidest people on the face of the planet....seriously.

February 27, 2009  08:23 AM ET

And what is bad is yankee fans still support this nit wit....

Not all of us, scottc. I for one was hoping the Yankees would take something even slightly resembling a no-tolerance policy when it came out that he used steroids. I would have been proud if they had tried to void or discount his contract, no matter what the result. I consider any record he has or will have to be tainted; I think his Rangers MVP should be rescinded, too. I'm embarrassed to have him on the Yankees for his steroid use, AND for his stupidity going forward from the revelation that he lied. Falsely accsusing the reporter of stalking him at his home? Getting picked up by Yuri after the FIRST game of Spring Training? To quote Bubba Blue's mom: "Are you crazy? Or just plain stupid?"

How much longer will this organization put up with this crap.......they are a proud team steeped in tradition.....they are the pinnacle of baseball......but if they continue to let this kind of behavior run rampant in their players they will not be held in esteem much longer......

I have no idea what in the heck Arod is thinking...How can you continue to make this many stupid moves!? As a Yankee fan until I l die, I find it harder each day to watch this stuff. I'm tired of getting phone calls from everyone I know..."Did you hear...." I'm definitely embarrassed to have him on the Yankees, however, there are many out there "high and mighty" thinking their boys are clean...It won't be long before the hammer falls on your team as well.

February 27, 2009  08:52 AM ET

It's going to be interesting to see how all this controversy affects ARod's performance. He seems to be emotionally fragile.

February 27, 2009  09:00 AM ET

Yuri, huh? Probably drivin' a big black humvee with tinted windows and obscured plates... wearin' wrap-a-rounds and carrying an AK-47 as well America~ what a country!

February 27, 2009  09:02 AM ET

Wait for the movie: "My Cousin Yuri" starring Madonna as herself and Arnold as A-Rod

February 27, 2009  09:02 AM ET

"Come with me if you want to hit"

February 27, 2009  09:03 AM ET

Too bad they cant ban Arod from the stadium.

If Alex Rodriguez married Nadya Suleman, how many stories would we get daily on these two?

February 27, 2009  09:52 AM ET

Why did it take THIS long? I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I guess I don't get why teams even allow players' entourages or their "personal trainers" through the door?

They shouldn't and I think more and more clubhouses are going to take this approach.

I hope Jeter gets outed for roids soon because I want to see everyone's reaction if it's going be the same for the golden boy of the Yankees.

So he used steroids to get an edge in the game. It wasn't even illegal to use them when he did from 01-04 (for MLB). How many players have used spitballs, corked bats, didn't disagree when they were called safe and they knew they were out?

Just settle down, at least he admitted it not like Clemens who is blaming everyone but himself.

February 27, 2009  10:12 AM ET

What killed me was some people were asking, "where were Aroids handlers and how could they not have told Alex that he shouldnt be hanging around this cousin right now?" Does this DUNCE need handlers to tell him that? This stupid **** should be inducted into the idiot HOF right now even though he did juice to probably get this stupid.

Just stop, it was illegal, and against baseball rules, but there were no penalties then, that is all. Nice hate on Jeter. Your analogy of spitballs and corked bats flies in the face of the reality that steroids is not just a physical prevarication but an insidious element that diminishes the meaning of sport, any sport.

Is his 'cousin' an illegal substance?
