07:18 AM ET 03.03 | Pedro Martinez wants to pitch in the majors this season, but the three-time Cy Young winner prefers retiring to his fishing boat if the alternative is accepting a Tom Glavine-like contract. Glavine, Martinez's former teammate with the Mets, signed with the Braves for a base salary of $1 million.

The bluefish are biting today Pedro!

Why does this guy think he deserves more then Glavine. Pedro's days are numbered. This guy has been on the DL more then he has pitched games.

Anybody still wondering why the Red Sox aren't interested in resigning this guy?

March 3, 2009  08:14 AM ET

Well pedro, then it is time to fish or cut bait I guess.

I think the Mets could still use him as their #5 starter. Stay tuned. They would be willing to give him $5MM with some incentives. Freddy Garcia's fastball has looked horrific and the results have matched. Pedro would immediately be the best #5 starter in the league. I think he would have a good year too.

The funny thing is in the football threads where the SI crack team of reporters has wrote an article about the new football regime in Cleveland that is lovingly known in league circles as Mankok. So just call it like they do Kok fighting.

With a 78 mph fastball, you will be lucky to get an offer from a MLB team. The bait and tackle store opens at 5am daily, enjoy fishing!

I would think a 78 mph fastball would make him the #2 pitcher on the Phillies.

214 wins doesn't get anywhere near the hall of fame.
