Miami coach Randy Shannon said ex-receiver Sam Shields ''looks like a [legitimate] cornerback -- better than what I thought.''. . . . Shannon instructed receiver Travis Benjamin to stop relying on ``speed all the time. You've got to start using technique.''

Not a TE, therefore, merely large.

He is a stud though.

Position changes happen. Shields could benefit from becoming a corner.

Some guys come in wanting the shot at the glamour position first. From what I have seen, this should work out fine. The kid's got decent size and doesn't fear the contact. Better than leaving him on the bench.

Bailey was the 1st big recruit frm that 1st year's salvaged class hes got great height an either Bailey,Jason Fox or Orlando Franklin an maybe James if he can stay healthy nxt season will be the next Hurricanes to be taken in the 1st Rd, thn will cme Forston (7 Sacks as a Frosh DT), Spence, Bryce's Bro will be a Monster at the MLB Spot, I also thnk McCarthy has a shot as late 1st or 2 Rd Pck, then cmes Marcus Robinson who switched frm OLB to DE an had 3 Sacks Vs VT an had I think 5 or 6 total as a Frosh an at least 1 of the WR's like Aldarious, Jacory's main WR an Miami's best Frosh Wideout frm last year. Then this year's class will have at least 2or3 possibles an Ray Ray Armstrong is a lock if he stay's out of trouble an makes a nice transition frm Safety to OLB.

March 5, 2009  12:42 AM ET

Forston will be a top 10 pick whn his career as a Cane is all said an done.

Can someone tell me why SI doesn't allow us to comment on articles. The Mountain West BCS article would get a lot of us posting comments.

"Under the MWC's proposal, a conference would qualify for an automatic bid if its teams have a winning percentage of at least .400 in games against the current automatic qualifying leagues over a two-year period."

Let's not set our standards that low..... I agree that we need to do something to get a 4-team or 8-team playoff, but you don't even have to win half your games against other BCS conferences to get an automatic bid!

They lost me with that arguement.

No need to fret my friend. A MWC proposal is meaningless. They've got no ticket to the dance and the majors aren't going to hand them one. Utah beating Bama in the Sugar Bowl isn't going change the system. It's noise at this point.
