Ravens GM: We're not done dealing

A week into free agency, the Ravens have put $61 million into contracts to keep the face of the franchise, add speed to the secondary and fill the void at center. There's a sense of satisfaction at Ravens headquarters with Ray Lewis, Domonique Foxworth and Matt Birk in the fold, but -- "We're not done yet. I can tell you that," general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "The phones are still hot." The unfinished business could include upgrading at offensive tackle, bringing in a kicker, signing an inside linebacker, adding depth at tight end and finding an additional cornerback. Perhaps the biggest surprise this offseason has been the Ravens' inactivity at wide receiver. They lack a playmaker for quarterback Joe Flacco, and their top three wide receivers - Derrick Mason, Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams - will be free agents next season. Mason and Clayton are in the final years of their contracts, and Williams is a restricted free agent. One possibility is the St. Louis Rams' Torry Holt, who reportedly has requested to be released. Holt, who turns 33 in June, could get cut before March 17, when he is due a $1.25million roster bonus.

I have even heard things as far as the Ravens trading a possible pick to Dallas for TE Martellus Bennett.

They wont pick up a WR, it isn't a position of much depth in the free agency, they will resign Mason to some 3 year deal, draft a burner like Harvin or Heyward Bey and be done with it. Flacco needs a burner to get under his bombs.

They need a burner but they need other things as well. I'm a Rams fan but I also love the Ravens. Torry in a Ravens uniform would be a godsend for that team.

He was a second round pic . I do not see the Ravens giving a high pick for the guy and it would be silly of the Cowboys to move him a year after drafting him that high for a low round pick. But on paper ,with only 20 career catches , it is all he is worth.

hard to compete for playing time and receptions with the likes of a witten in front of you though. cowboys may be best to take a lower round pick and reload another position.

I would not do that..Who is behind Witten if he gets hurt? and with Owens gone and no first or third round pics in the draft their passing game could lean to the shorter routes. They said a year ago they took him so they could use more two TE formations . I suspect they will now..will have to.

with the cutting of owens the inadequacy of romo will be full blown now, they are officialyl irrelevant already anyways lol. but of course all the analysts will pick them for the SB again right??

March 9, 2009  08:43 AM ET

Yes, add Holt

That will really give your WR a youthful boost

March 9, 2009  08:45 AM ET

The Ravens surprised a lot of people last year. We'll see if Flacco can keep it up.

you place way too much blame on Romo ... they need offensive line help and somebody needs to teach the offensive line and running backs how to pick up the blitz ...

Yeah bit after that rap song he made talking crap about the team and JJ, Romo, Witten and what have you, he obviously doesn't deserve to be there. Trade him for a 3rd rounder, he is worth a 3rd, he has skills. What the hell does Dallas need a big mouth receiving TE who can't block when they have Jason Witten. They can draft another one in the 3rd round. They still have a 3rd rounder.

Flozzell Adams has taken that to a whole new level. Heard it was part of his performance incentive
