Huskies QB 'about 100 percent'

Washington coach Steve Sarkisian said that quarterback Jake Locker "is just about 100 percent and progressing well.'' Coaches can't watch the players in any actual football drills at the moment, but Locker is participating in voluntary sessions with his receivers and Sarkisian said "he feels really good and all the reports back are really good. We are excited where he is and he has three more weeks here until spring ball when we will be able to get a really fair evaluation of him.'' Locker has been able to work with coaches in terms of watching film and going over the playbook, and Sarkisian said he thinks that learning process is also coming along well. "Obviously some of the schemes are different than what we have done before,'' Sarkisian said. "But he's been around a lot of football, so that helps.''

Locker definitely needs to be healthy this season... Or it could be another rough year in Seattle

Well, I bet they win a few games. What a story....

One game will be an improvement, sad to say

Does it matter who the QB is for UW?

March 9, 2009  12:43 PM ET

Yes, the Huskies need a strong, healthy QB, but as a leader, not to carry the team.

Based on our 2007 experience against Cal, it doesn't seem so.

If locker can develop a passing game and some accuracy he might be dangerous... or be worthy of making it on T & R. Until then he is a losing QB who can only run the football.

March 9, 2009  02:24 PM ET

Going to need him. He better be healthy so they could at least win a game this season.

I hope W can get back soon...College Football needs them back in the mix of things...

Achh. Just another unimpressive, run-of-the-mill SEC team. Could be the Huskies first win in a long time....

Sure. Thanks for being an idiot. Makes the rest of us seem smart.

I REALLY like this kid and feel bad for him. His career has not gone very well with the injuries and the total re-boot of UW football. I hope he gets a chance to shine this year as I love watching him play

March 10, 2009  05:23 PM ET

Actually a pretty good player, watched him in a game 2 years ago, he has some skills. Big arm.

Jake Locker is a beast and maybe when he plays next year agianst NOTRE DAME they will cross the 50 more than once.
