06:10 AM ET 03.11 | The executive director of baseball's players' union shot back Tuesday at Commissioner Bud Selig, who has responded to Alex Rodriguez's admission of steroid use by accusing the union with repeatedly obstructing efforts to institute drug testing in the major leagues. Speaking to reporters at the Angels' training camp in Tempe, Ariz., union chief Donald Fehr suggested the players might have been better served to agree to random testing in 2003 rather than defer it until after survey testing that year revealed significant steroid use in the majors. "Had I known then what I know now, we would have made a different recommendation to players," Fehr said. "What is clear now is that the program in place seems to be working very, very well."
