06:11 AM ET 03.12 | Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon had strong words about former teammate Manny Ramirez in an interview in Esquire magazine's April issue. "It just takes one guy to bring an entire team down, and that's exactly what was happening," the right-hander told the magazine. "Once we saw that, we weren't afraid to get rid of him. ... He had to go. It (stunk), but that was the only scenario that was going to work. That was it for us." Papelbon detailed Ramirez's controversial acts last year before the Red Sox shipped him to the Dodgers in a three-way deal at the July 31 trade deadline, including Ramirez's suspicious injuries and physical confrontation with Red Sox traveling secretary Jack McCormick. "He was on a different train!" Paplebon said. "And you saw what happened with that. We got rid of him, and we moved on without him. That comes from the manager, and it comes from guys like Jason Varitek and Tim Wakefield and David Ortiz."

Well, this should get the Manny defenders all fired up this morning. Hey, he is only saying what everyone else figured was going on. The "injuries", the attitude and so forth. The team stood behind him for 7 and a half years of garbage, and with what Manny was saying about "suffering" in Boston, you knew someone would fire back.

As a side note, how much "suffering" is someone doing living in one of the fanciest condos in Boston, making 20 million an year and having a team defend your moves and allowing you to do whatever you want under the guise of "Manny being Manny"? I'm just guessing anyone here would put up with that kind of "suffering".

Oh, one more thing. Dodger fans, this is your future. Manny is making less than he would have if he still "suffered" in Boston and we all know that won't sit well with Manny. He was expecting 6/150 this offseason, as promised by Boras, and got less than he would have gotten just keeping his mouth shut and staying in Boston. He is only making 18,400,000 this year and was making more last year. Then, when he opts out, again, you get that fun all over next winter.

This should be the place to hang out today. I think we need to find out what Schiiling has to say about all this ;)

September 17, 2008:

"The guy got to dress in a locker away from the team for seven years," said Schilling, talking via telephone with Glenn Ordway and former Sox players Lou Merloni and Brian Daubach. "And then [when] he's on this crusade to get out of here, all of a sudden he's in the locker room every day, voicing his displeasure without even having to play the game that night."

Schilling said Ramirez's antics particularly weighed on manager Terry Francona.

"Nothing makes a guy that respects the game and respects human beings like Terry Francona feel worse than looking at a guy and saying, 'Go ahead, [mess] with me, [mess] with your teammates, I'll put you in the lineup,' and then turn around to a guy whose there every day early working his [butt] off who gets 110 at-bats a year and saying, "You know what? Yeah, I can't put you in there tonight," Schilling said. "There were times when you had players who were on like fire duty, 'Show up tomorrow, I'm not sure if you're playing or not, we've gotta find out what [Manny] wants to do.' That's not fair to anybody."

Would have been nice to have had Manny in that final series with Tampa Bay though.....

Why didn't the guys on the team just wrap up some soap in their towels and give Manny a good old fashion prison style attitude adjustment to get his mind right?

If that had happened, the next time you would have seen Manny was on a milk carton. He would have run away.

Manny really cheated that team out of his services, I don't blame Papelschnaps for being pissed. Still, enough time has passed, let it go ...

Bleeding heart? Listen you mutton molester, when it's Saturday night in Tampa, and you're half unconscious in the hotel lobby all drunk and your face covered in sheep jiuzz, you think I'll be there to pick you up and pour you into your car?

Wait a minute ... maybe that's not a bad idea ...
