Maryland guard Greivis Vasquez said Wednesday he plans to declare for the NBA draft after the season and compete in pre-draft camps before he decides whether to return for his senior season at Maryland. Vasquez said declaring for the draft is a smart move for him because he will be able to see where he stacks up against other top guards across the country.

This sounds like he is going without an agent. He's good but I wouldn't worry if I were a Terps fan. He'll be back.

He needs to declare himself eligible for clinical trials for skin disorders.

I could care less if goes or stays. I want Lance in College Park next season, though I firmly believe he's goin ta Kansas.

If he wasn't on the team someone else would step up. We got Jordan Williams and Padgett comin' next yr we'll be aiigh without him. Dude only got recruited cause he played on Kevin Durants team when Gary was scouting Durant.

Guess he's thinking about the success of Joe Smith, he never developed as a real star, but he's still in the league and I've lost count of how many teams he has played for......

March 13, 2009  11:00 AM ET

Fact: GV is currently off of even the second rd draft picks on nbadraft.net. He needs to work on his decision making next year at UMD and on get some consistency with his outside shot. Otherwise, Greece is beckoning... If it happens, I would not whine about that gig at age 22...

Vasquez is the Blessing and Curse to this program. When he's hot, its tough to stop him. When he isn't thinking (often) he can single handedly cost the Terps a game. Reminds me a little of Gilcrest from the early 00's. He'll end up in Europe if he goes. Stay a year, make better decisions with the ball and DEFINITELY refine your shot. He won't be driving the lane that effectively in the league.

He should rethink this decision??? He needs another year in college park to work on his game some more. He needs to be more consistent and work on his decision making. I???ll be happy to see him in College Park again next year. MD will need him.

He is a very good player based on college standards. It's hard to find one as good as him. For PRO, he should be able to play in Europe or may be on NBA bench .
He should be doing fine if they allow zone defense. I think it is wise for him to stay in school to get degree first and have good time for another year . Anyway he won't get a big contract in NBA but good money for playing in Europe especially Venezuela.
