Izzo flattered by job offers
Last week in Minneapolis, news sources suggested that the Minnesota Timberwolves could approach the Michigan State coach. The Arizona Wildcats job is available, and there's the unfolding situation at Kentucky, where coach Billy Gillispie might not last much longer in Lexington. Ton Izzo was asked during his news conference Thursday how he handled the yearly barrage of questions about his intentions. He gave his usual answer -- he's always flattered, and he'll never say never, but he's happy at MSU. "There's still things we have to accomplish," he said. "I'm just going to keep doing my job. It's flattering if a job here or there ... if somebody thinks we're doing the right things, that there's interest. But I've been taken very well care of at Michigan State. I have as good of facilities as anybody in the country. I get paid more than fairly. I've got goals and objectives yet to fulfill."

I saw that, too. Is it a nickname or just really bad editing and spell checking?

Why doesn't Tom Izzo get ANY respect from ESPN or CBS? 4 final fours in 12 years isn't good enough? 12 outta 16 years in the sweet 16. Jim Calhoun is vastly overrated, Boeheim is vastly overrated, Hell, Rick Pitino is overrated. Over a 16 year period none of those 3 coaches can come close to matching up with Tom Izzo and yet MSU is always an afterthought.
When is the Bristol Bias against the state of Michigan going to end?

What bias do you speak of? Are you saying Izzo deserves more attention than Calhoun? Izzo has only been head coach 12 years, but in that time Calhoun has 6 Elite 8's, including two championships and has as good a chance as any to win a third this year. I'm a Vol fan, so I have as much reason to dislike Uconn, but I'd have to give Calhoun the slight edge here.

...and, being a Vol fan, I have noticed that coaching records have little to do with media attention.

all due respect, none of those coaches are overrated, izzo is just underrated, i do agree with you though, he deserves to mentioned in the same breath as the rest of them.

and dont worry about CBS, they just want to sell commercials, i cant even stand watching the tournament anymore without tivo cause they get two plays in before they take a commercial break 5000000 **** times a game.

Yes I do agree that Tom the "ton" Izzo does not get much respect from either of the networks or from any networks in the country. But hey, this is a blessing in disguise and MSU really is good at basketball. As an alumni and a Spartan, from within, there's nothing much more happy about MSU being good at a sport. Of course we have been good in ice hockey and as for football we hope that Mark Dantonio will turn things around in the next couple of seasons.

ESPN doesn't do as many Big Ten games as in the past, so Izzo isn;t going to be on there as often as Calhoun. Those of us who watch the Big Ten Network, no that Izzo is given plenty of love over there.
That's not to say the 2 networks are equal, but it is what it is.
