Mizzou will pay to keep Anderson

Expect, within a few days following the end of Missouri's basketball season, an extension offer to go out to Tigers coach Mike Anderson. And expect that offer to be in the $1.3 million per year range, likely for five years, according to two sources within the university administration. Even though he would not speak to the amount or length of a contract extension, Doug Russell, a member of the University of Missouri system Board of Curators from Lebanon, Mo., did make the first public comments on MU's intent to spend to keep Anderson.

Great game last night coach! So much for that bias, Cal..

If Alabama goes after him, look for Alabama to offer about 2.3 million or so. Also, Anderson has previously stated that Alabama was his dream job (no, not because of how great the basketball team is now,but moreso probably because he is from Birmingham and has a lot of family here and grew up in Birmingham). Take from that what you will. The word is if he has any NCAA issues, however slight, Alabama will probably not go after him, though.

They better bring it up to 2 million. That's what Georgia is going to bring to the table.

For once a "good idea"

Mizzou will pay to keep Anderson...I didn't realize keeping him for free was an option.

I picked Memphis to return to the Final Four this year...

... but this year's team was not as good as last year's.

However, that does not discount the fact that there is bias against non BCS schools. There is not any doubt about that situation.

Excellent high octane performance last night by Missouri though.

as they should, this guy is impressive.

big 12 is 10-3 in the big dance. TEXAS is out of it and i can't root for ou, so go mizzzoo and kansas to boot

March 27, 2009  01:56 PM ET

You got to pay him. Good win for Mizzou.

big east rules...go NOVA!!!!!!!!!!!

What does a "bias" have to do with a team losing? Memphis just wasn't what everyone thought they were and this year's team rode the glory of last year's squad.

What bias? The tournament gives automatic bids to the champions of all conferences. The at-large bids are filled by teams that have proven to be there. Cal claimed bias because his team was a 2 seed and had to play slightly tougher competition. If they were the best team in their bracket it wouldn't matter. I won't argue there is a terrible bias in football, but not in basketball.

Mizzou has been in my final four bracket from day one. For that matter, so are KU and OU. You can snicker or chuckle, or outright howl in laughter. But, the midwest has some great talent and teams to be reckoned with; just ask Memphis. Mizzou did not win "on a whim" and Memphis did not have a "bad night". Mizzou can play with the big boys. U CONN may be taller, but height plus long legs do not always equal speed. Mizzou can play speed ball....... can U CONN keep up? Anderson was the right man for the job. Mizzou fans love Mike Anderson and our tigers! GO MIZZOU..........the final four and championship await!

I've only missed one game in that bracket so far, picking MSU to upset Washington. I got Uconn beating Mizzou, which I still stand behind. I loved seeing them frustrate Memphis, but that game took a lot out of them. They gave up way too many easy points down the stretch. Still, it should be fun to watch.

This guy should get Saban money for what he has done at Mizzou. He is a coach that can get guys to play.
