Williams changes UNC timeout strategy
The past two NCAA tournaments, Roy Williams came under pointed scrutiny for hoarding his allotment of timeouts. Ahead by 10 against Georgetown in the regional finals in 2007, the Tar Heels missed five straight shots (including three 3-pointers) before Williams called one. The meltdown continued after play resumed, and North Carolina lost 96-84 in overtime. Then last season in the national semifinals, Williams called one 30-second timeout during Kansas' 40-12 game-opening run. North Carolina rallied but lost, 84-66. When - or whether - Williams calls another timeout tonight could influence North Carolina's chances of beating Villanova in the national semifinals at Ford Field. "He doesn't usually just call timeouts, so because he did, he really got our players' attention,'' assistant coach Joe Holladay said of the LSU game. "I think if he did it all the time, it's like, 'Another run, another timeout.' But he usually likes them to right the ship themselves - the way they do in practice. So when he calls one, they take notice."

The bitter Kansas Fan is in the house. All college coaches are fake. They are the greatest guy ever till Kentucky comes calling or whoever else needs to restore prominence. They are all salesmen (the fakest creatures alive).

Maybe he thinks timeouts can be rolled over into the next game.

I love the Heels but the reason Roy doesn't call timeouts is because he doesn't know what to say during them. He is a great recruiter but subpar ingame coach.
Oh, and jayhawk fan, you should be thanking Roy because it was his sympathy to Kansas (and stupidity) that caused he to pull Ellington and Hansbrough when we got within 4. Bill Self is is more of a joke than Roy.

These days you just can't have enough timeouts, or rollover minutes.

He used to have the players sit in the corner with a dunce cap for timeout. Now they don't have to wear the cap. It's demeaning and hurts their feelings

lol....
how many points did blake score?
they won because the rest of Oaks team is not that good- period
If you think UNC DOES play good defense- then you haven't
watched them all year (or the last several)
- believe me they still could win a title with all that offense &
the players they have....but they are NOT a good defensive team

Is there one photo where this guy doesn't look like Roofus McDoofus?
Here's a thought. Go buy a wallet. You know the photo of the guy in the wallet? The neatly groomed man? Can you just use that photo? Sheesh.

Funny comment about Roy lol...
... also, Kansas and N.C. were fortunate that Memphis could not shoot free throws... because the Tigers were better than both last year.

Rashad McCants told me about how Roy would mess up players names and make comments like "why do they name their kids that?", "I hate when they give them names like that", etc.
The dunce cap is right on point with Roy's style.

The N.C. interpretation of defense is to overplay and try to get steals. Once you get it into a halfcourt game then they lapse. They just want to run and score.
However, against a balance team with great athletes they need to do more than overplay and try for steals.
