This just in, Marve has been thinking about buying some new shoes that match his new school's colors! Don't get your hopes up Purdue!!

More news in an hour.

It must be Wednesday. Another Marve update. Dude, just pick a school. No one cares for a weekly update.

April 8, 2009  08:22 AM ET

Yaaaawwnnnnnnn...........

April 8, 2009  08:49 AM ET

so glad Marve is honoring his original reasons to leave the team by staying home close to his father.

He seems like such a classy guy... I can't believe teams aren't jumping all over him.

April 8, 2009  09:06 AM ET

He hasn't picked a school yet? Purdue would be a good landing place for him. Siller is out for a season due to academics and Elliot who will start this year is a senior. He should be able to start in the 2010 season.

I can't for the life of me understand why this kid's dad feels the need to be in constant contact with the media.... Just make a **** decision already - the fact that you haven't decided is not news.

April 8, 2009  09:57 AM ET

is the problem that he is not getting scholarship offers from the schools he thinks he can go to?

April 8, 2009  10:17 AM ET

Marve just needs to tell his dad "I don't want your life"

April 8, 2009  10:25 AM ET

Please, anyone but Nebraska. They have an excellent history as a classy and successful football program. I know they've sucked for a few years, but they seem to be making the right kind of moves to regain at least part of what they once were. They don't need this kind of problem child ****ing up the process.

lol, the cancer strikes again.

As stated in an earlier post, those 3 schools are soooo close to tampa, where he wanted to be close to his father because he has cancer.

he just didnt want to compete!

Someone from the U help me out here, I saw this guy a few times and didn't see anything special about him. Whats with all the hype???

I saw him play in High School, and he honestly looked like the real deal to me. I don't have any connection to his HS (Plant High School in Tampa), however, so I don't really know if he was a head case then, as he is now. He just had everyone telling him how great he was, so maybe his "issues" didn't come out until he was at Miami and realized everything wouldn't just be handed to him. I'm just glad FSU isn't in the mix for this kid, and I suspect many other people feel the same way about their team regarding Marve.

April 8, 2009  11:45 AM ET

LOL, he will be the next Texas Tech quarterback. He will certainly get a chance to throw there! That would be my choice. He has the hype. Now he will have the system.

Nebraska - QB? Huh?
Purdue - rarely a great prospect makes it out of Indiana...the rest of the time, no one cares, even the Big 10
Texas Tech - system, NFL, system, system

It's guaranteed.

I don't know about that...seems Nebraska had one of their best teams with a woman beater running the football in 1993-1994.

Well, what does near Tampa mean?

Maybe with the tectonic motion these cities are closer to Tampa now? Hmmm? Gator says "no dumbass, those cities are on the same plate."

Maybe he meant near in the cultural sense? Hmmm? Germ says "Have you seen these back water dumping grounds?"

Maybe he meant near in the sense of "it's just an airline flight away." Oh, I really Like that one. Tin Man says "Are you that naive? Can you see a lying, manipulative prima donna when you see one?"

Well, now I do.

Henry, closing thoughts?

They paid a price for that. That bad press was (deservedly) a big part of why their recruiting went to **** in the late 90's. But their current coach seems like a fairly straight arrow, he's starting to attract a few kids who at least know what a football is, and he's got a fan base that is looking for any excuse to cheer him on. I think they're gonna restore the program, at least part way.

Besides, the tragedy in Lubbock last year notwithstanding, it's better for the conference if the RRSO isn't the only meaningful game most years.

April 8, 2009  01:01 PM ET

I live in Tampa and he was tight in HS... but it seems he is scared of competition.. his dad and HS coach gave him bad advice... from what i have been reading here he was a coach at that 7 on 7 drill.. like these new recruits want his advice..lol... he did the U a favor by leaving.. this kid aint goin anywhere

JRM you all did get a good coach..look at how our D fell apart last year without Bo

Bottom line ... he has alot of potential... a little short but has a good arm and can run if needed. The kid can def play no doubt but like everone else has been saying he is a head case and both his dads (blood and coach) have advised him very, very poorly.
I wished he would have stayed at the U but would have lost the starting spot to Jacory Harris. Jacory and Marve were neck and neck with a slight edge at end of year to Jacory... that was not a good sign for a two year qb vs a true freshman.
