Rodriguez changing Michigan traditions
Adjusting the traditions of Michigan football may be a glacial process, but second-year coach Rich Rodriguez is going full speed in revamping the annual spring scrimmage. t began with an off-handed remark about trying to set a spring-football attendance record at Michigan Stadium someday. It has since morphed into a day full of football-related activities to spur interest in the event. Fans Saturday will be treated to tours of the locker room from 8 to 10 a.m., an alumni flag football game from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and then the Wolverines' spring scrimmage at noon. Everything is free. Participants from this year's Super Bowl with U-M ties also will be on hand, including Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote, defensive end LaMarr Woodley, safety Ryan Mundy and assistant offensive line coach Harold Goodwin. Rodriguez said he hopes the spring game will be entertaining for fans.

I still think it looks like RichRod is bowling, kinda weird for a CFB thread. Maybe bowling is one of the activities he has planned for the fans?
Guess after last season he needs to do something to remind the Ann Arbor community that UM still has a football team. But I'd be more interested in an article about what he's doing, and what progress he's making, relative to making UM a viable force among the eleven schools comprising the Big 10.

The reason he's inviting the Superbowl players now is because in his program their won't be many future NFL players to begin with let alone ones to play in future Superbowls.

Depends can you count on those who start the career at UM and transfer to another school?

What do WV's prospects look like for the next couple of years? What are they gonna do about reloading at QB?

To me this sounds like a great idea to get fans behind a program that struggled last season, and should struggle again this season.
It's also good to get past alumns involved in the program so that they can see what the new Michigan regime is all about.

He's obviously over his head and trying to turn practice into a carnival like atmosphere. Will that really help you during games? NO Their attendance is always up for games b/c everyone wants to see who the next D2 team to beat them will be.

The flag football game is to prepare the QB's for the NFL.

Notwithstanding all the jokes, and I do so love them at the expense of RichRod, having a big attendance at the spring game is a big recruitung tool seeing as their are usually visitors that are high school players being recruited.

Always been a big deal at Texas. Draws about 45,000 people. I assume it's similar at other major schools, and that's where RichRod got the idea.
Is there anything here besides fluff? Are there any players who have been noticed for stepping up? Any particular gaps or question marks they're working on? How have the early enrollment recruits looked?

Oops! Another news article on SI's site is about one of RichRod's freshman WRs being sentenced for drunk driving. RECRUITING NOTE TO RICH: If a Texas HS player looks fairly talented but isn't seriously recruited by any of the major Big 12 schools, there's a strong chance the kid is flawed in some way that may bite you on your ass. Beware!

Does your team have a better track record than UM? Who is your team? Lets critique your football team buddy. Wait, they suck?? Oh bummer dude. Michigan could loose every game for the next four seasons AND WE'D STILL HAVE MORE WINS THAN ANY COLLEGE FOOTBALL PROGRAM!!! All you haterz are pathetic losers talking **** about the most winningest college football program in the history of mankind.

"Wins all time" doesn't mean **** when you currntly can't beat a Division II school (maybe not Okemos HS), and can't even qualify for a toilet bowl. I'm not disrespecting UM's past accomplishmnets, and I think your program will recover. Couple of years if Rich is the guy, longer if he's not, but you'll recover. Will even be able to beat PSU and OSU on occasion. But your argument sounds whiny and translates to "Oh yeah? Well we didn't used to suck!" I've tried that line of reasoning in the pro threads to defend Dallas. Hasn't worked out so well.

By the way, my team is the Longhorns. Sucked way less than UM for the past decade, will REALLY suck less than UM in 2009. So be careful with this line of defense.
