Raleigh Word of God point guard John Wall said Thursday morning that North Carolina was not recruiting him and that there had been no changes in the list of schools he is considering. But North Carolina is showing increased interest in Wall, who is 6-foot-4 and one of the nation's top senior high school basketball players. Eddie Gray, who coached Wall for two years at Garner High, said he talked to North Carolina's staff this week about Wall's background. North Carolina coach Roy Williams called Wall from the Final Four in Detroit last week. But Wall said Thursday that he had not talked to Williams since that call. Wall said he expects to talk to Williams again, but he doesn't know of any timetable. "North Carolina is not recruiting me now," he said. Asked if he would be interested in North Carolina if the Tar Heels recruited him, Wall said, ?"hat's something I would have to look into." Wall said N.C. State, Duke, Memphis, Baylor, Kansas, Miami and Kentucky are on his list of possible schools.

lol....not sure why the NCAA continues to maintain the sham
of 'student-athlete' and not just admit that it is a business

- I mean these kids who are HEAVILY recruited are being
prohibited from profiting off of their talents...when for most
of them the window to REALLY earn $$$ is so short......

let these kids accept endorsements at least

Duke, NC State, Kansas, and Kentucky are a National Champion too, per your sentence tense.

Nc state are you out of your mind there not close to being a champion anywhere that includes there conferance and the N.I.T there a joke right now! Duke will look real good next year and have a great shot at wall they already recruited his High school team mate the 2nd best center in the nation

April 11, 2009  12:07 PM ET

It will be Kansas, Duke or Kentucky

April 11, 2009  12:19 PM ET

Go to Kentucky or to us (UNC), but avoid Duke at all costs.

April 11, 2009  12:34 PM ET

Duke sucks!!! You better get on the Tarheel train before its too late.

April 11, 2009  01:12 PM ET

carolina could use Wall next year. Backcourt looking very thin. I bet he goes to Miami or NC State so he can get 30 shots a game. No way he gets those at Duke or Kansas or Carolina, maybe at Kentucky, but Calipari would have to pull off a great steal from coach K or Roy. If he wants a "program" He'll likely choose Duke or UNC. Other wise he's one and done at Miami or Baylor or State.

Check out his interview with the inside blazers website. He says in the interview he doesn't want to be the main go to guy and wants to go to a team with veterans that can score.

not a bad point, the only reason it will never happen is because if they let it start, then where does it end?

April 11, 2009  02:20 PM ET

Yeah because what college basketball needs most right now is more pros going to north carolina... seriously it's not even fair. I'm surprised north carolina hasn't won more national championships in the last 10 years. Just this year they had at least 7 pros on their roster. (Lawson, Ellington, Green, Hansbrough, Thompson, Davis, Ginyard). Ridiculous...

Guys, be careful with the careful quipster here!

Anyway, this photo reminds me of a new toy rollout at F.A.O. Schwarz in Manhattan.

Congratulations to the Tar Heels again.

April 11, 2009  03:22 PM ET

What this kid needs is a team full of guys that can make him look like an all-star point guard so he can get that guarenteed first overall pick. If he's on a squad that can play than he will most definately look good to those NBA scouts. If he went to Carolina than he would likely start at the point and lead the team and actually look good with some good young players around him. Kentucky has nothing right now and Kansas has too many weapons for him to be all that effective and let's not even begin with Duke. That system doesn't take kids like this so UNC is his best option. Go get 'em Roy!!!

April 11, 2009  03:49 PM ET

Wall needs to come to NCSU. His mom is a fan of the Pack, the Pack has been screwed by Adolph Rupp in the early 60's from continuing their being a national power, and then again by Dean Smith in the 70's and later again in the 80's. NCSU has been screwed time and time again, having Wall sign with us to complete an already awesome recruiting class would be awesome. Ole' Roy got away with one fairly publicized event last season that qualified as a recruting violation, the NCAA wouldn't ever dare to do something harsh to UNC.

GO TO HELL CAROLINA!! RUN WITH THE PACK JOHN!!!

April 11, 2009  04:04 PM ET

GO TO UCLA!!!!!!!!

April 11, 2009  04:22 PM ET

if john wall is a smart player....he knows to go to duke
