Florida State people believe Memphis wanted Leonard Hamilton to succeed John Calipari, and that added urgency to complete Hamilton's five-year extension last week.

That's Hamilton? Wow, he's put on some weight since he was coaching at Ok State...

I find this so hard to believe. He was on the hot seat before the season began and he is 60 years old.

Is this news? Of course they did, because they know their destined future: obscurity after JC left.

You constantly make statements that are completely idiotic. Go read any of the message boards or the Memphis newspaper, and then tell me we wanted him. He's too old and has only made a couple of NCAA appearences............thats not going to cut it at Memphis.

As I said before to you: Your a Cal fan in a BCS league, and little ole Memphis is still more relevant then you. Go look at our basketball history before coach Cal.............obscurity should not be used in the same sentence as Memphis basketball.

By the way, we could have top 10 recruiting classes each year just by recruiting the city of Memphis and Memphis basketball is huge (always has been) in that city. Calipari stopped recruiting Memphis because he wanted to go National and pissed off a lot of coaches/players. Memphis will be fine for years to come.............a hell of a lot better then your pitiful Cal Bears.

So, how many nat championships does Memphis have if they are so great...and what conference do they play in, almost any of the big name schools could have success in that conference, let Memphis come to the ACC or the Big East and see how they fare

Your stament is not only idiotic but full of irony. The ACC raids the Big East, the Big East raids CUSA (who was getting 5-6 teams into the big dance), and the Big East DOES NOT LET MEMPHIS JOIN.....instead they take South Florida and Depaul....are you kidding me!

YOU CAN'T JUST UP AND JOIN A BCS CONFERENCE, YOU HAVE TO BE INVITED!!!!!! If you can make that happen, then get on the phone. Memphis will join in a heartbeat (we have been trying for years).

You don't understand Memphis basketball and the support it has from the city. 3 Final Fours and 2 National Championship games......better then most teams, especially the Cal Bears. Now do you think UNC could accomplish that without ever being in a BCS league and NOT stockpiling the money you get from that? BCS teams should be better..........a hell of a lot better exposure and a ton of more money. If you aren't winning in the BCS, then you really have problems. How many BCS teams can do that if you really think about it? Any other questions nimrod?

yea the 5 or 6 teams are what....15 and 16 seeds, and youre right i DONT understand Memphis basketball and dont care to....and it seems that im not the only once since no other conference is "inviting them" and whats the point of listing championship games if you cant win any!

April 14, 2009  08:03 PM ET

no one talks about or remembers "runner ups" except to say "maybe next year"

April 14, 2009  08:15 PM ET

UNC has won every championship game it has been in, which shows they belonged there in the first place. Sounds like tnzazz needs to apply to be Memphis' next coach he believes in them more than any one else

I guess we will see... Im guessing not. Conference championships OFC but that's end. No finals. No final 4. They couldnt possibly keep JC but it IS a bad loss.

yea i agree with you, they will continue to win their conf championship because theres nobody there to stop anybody but i dont see Memphis going very far in the big dance. If you look at this past seasons game Memphis was 16-0 in their conference but lost all four big non-conference games to the likes of Georgetown, Syracuse, Missouri and one other i cant remember and only won by 1 point to a team in the basement of their conference.

Memphis, Louisville, Marquette, Cincinnatti, UAB, Charlotte.......so your answer is no. If you don't know what your talking about, then how can you make blanket statements.....its just ignorant. Why even comment on something that has to do with Memphis? Sounds like to me your little confused.

Do I think we will be good next year.......not like we have been. Cal raped our program.....he even took the secretary. We went from preseason number 1 to barely fielding a team, but by 2010 we will be back.

By the way......I was at the UNC's sweet 16 and elite 8. I got to sit by your band and cheerleaders.

I could argue this post but I don't have the energy. Yes, we did lose. That team we won by 1 point was 2nd in our league at Tulsa.......who has a potential top 25 team. We beat them by 30 or more the second time we played.

is it that you dont have the "energy" or that you just cant argue that they lose when it matters
