06:10 AM ET 04.15 | The Green Bay Packers aren't the only ones who are interested in Greg Paulus. According to sources close to the situation, the former Duke point guard was in Ann Arbor on Tuesday meeting with Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez about the possibility of playing this season for the Wolverines. The 6-foot-1 Paulus, who was the Gatorade National Player of the Year as a standout quarterback at Christian Brothers Academy in New York, has one year of eligibility left for football after playing four years of basketball at Duke. He watched Michigan practice Tuesday afternoon and could fit in with Rodriguez's spread offense. The Wolverines don't have a clear-cut starting quarterback, and Paulus could come in and play immediately.

Paulus was a superstar QB at CBA in Syracuse NY before going to Duke....he may do ok in Michigan...however, this doesn't bode well for Richie Rod...he'll have the same hole at QB when Paulus leaves after the 2009-10 season.

What happned to the freshman QB that was getting so much good press? I agree that if RR is still trying to find his 2009 QB after spring practice is basically over, his prospects in 2009 for a NC, or a Big 10 title, or a BCS bowl, or any bowl, or even a 5 win season don't look so great. The fact that he's considering Paulus can't be good for the existing QBs' confidence, either.

Plus, if Paulus has the option of 1) playing football for money or 2) playing football for free, and he picks option 2, I'm gonna question his mental acuity.

This doesnt make sense for either side. Michigan needs to find their QB for more than just a single year. And if Paulus is getting looked at by NFL teams, why not sign a contract and learn there?

He may figure he could be a one year wonder while the frosh kid develops but it makes little sense unless the guys just lights out. Why hook your wagon to a kid with one year of eligibility and hasn't thrown a ball in 4 years when you just brought in a couple of kids that are the "future" of your program.

At 180 lbs. the kid would need to add size and strength to compete at that level. Seems like another passing fancy but who knows. Would this cost them a scholi?

Maybe he decided after 4 years of southern co-eds he wants to go north.

If he is seriously considering playing football a year of college ball may help his chances in the pros next year. It all seems like a long shot but he is one heck of an athlete.

i hope he can run qb better than he ran point at Duke! he doesnt really have a football body lol MICH o-line isnt going to be that get this season those big 10 linebackers and d-line are gonna give paulus internal bleeding lol

Does RR have a decent QB recruit coming in the fall - one who's still in high school/not in spring practice?

Don't think so. I thought the Forcier(sp?) kid was supposed to be the guy. Or maybe I haven't had enough coffee and I just dreamed I read that.

On a topic that actually matters, Mack is not yet satisfied with the interior of his D-line. Gonna take away a lot of pass coverage options if LBs have to focus on run 1st.

I doubt many people would consider Duke coeds southern belles since many, perhaps the majority are from back east.

Would he be immediately eligible? Seems like a kid should be able to transfer and be eligible immediately if he finished up a sport at one school and wanted to fulfill the 5th and final season at another but you know how the Nat'l Communists Against Athletes, lol, think!!!

LOL. Hope they have a slush fund for harassment payouts.

It feels like the tradition at Michigan is sinking like a Somali priate ship...

April 15, 2009  08:44 AM ET

The dude's been away from football for too many years to come back and make a difference in one year. This is foolhearty and if this is how RichieRod expects to build a program, he's not long for Ann Arbor. Ohio State's QB Joe Bauserman was a big-time recruit but chose to play baseball instead. It has taken him some time to get back into the groove and is only now beginning to contribute.

UT DT's are a ?. They have zero experience but alot of guys. Alexander had a good spring, plus Lamarr Houston and Kheeston Randall. They are hoping the new kids Mims, Howell, Wilcoxon and Johnson can come in and play as frosh or 2nd year guys.

Their ends should be great with Kindle and true frosh Okafor who might end up as Frosh AA. Their 2nd-dary should be all world with a ton of depth and experience. 6 guys that can start on any team and about 8 they can switch in and out.

Those two pluses could help with the DT problem and the LB's are getting alot of press for their successes so far this spring.

For the love of God (Bo Schembechler) do not let this happen! Dookies stick to getting nuts in yo face by Danny Green and Manny Harris!

Tate Forcier
Denard Robinson
Devin Green
ALL superior by leaps and bounds over Paulus at this point, and even if he "shot lightening bolts out of his arse," I still wouldnt want his King Rat influence in ANN ARBOR.
