Why Fiesta Bowl is mad at NFL
A scheduling conflict at University of Phoenix Stadium early next year has Fiesta Bowl officials fuming and the Arizona Cardinals apologizing. If the schedule stands, it will mean an NFL game and the big bowl game in 24 hours back to back. The conflict came to light after the National Football League released its 2009 schedule this week. The league has the Cardinals playing their final home game Jan. 3 against the Green Bay Packers. That's the day before the Jan. 4 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The organization that runs the college-football game has a contract with the stadium operator that says the Cardinals can't play a regular-season game within two days of the bowl. The Cardinals' agreement with the stadium operator includes similar language. On Friday, the Cardinals said the NFL had no intention of rescheduling the game. League representatives could not be reached for comment. The Fiesta Bowl threw its support behind the Cardinals to get voters in 2000 to approve funding for a new stadium, but the two sides have had a long, acrimonious relationship since the days when they shared Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.

Here's what worked for the Jets: have the Fiesta Bowl fans say the are the largest block of Jewish college football fans in the country.

So they have a contract that says how it is to be handled yet the stadium operator refuses to honor it. They must have Anquan Boldin's agent.

Do what MLB did to the Astros: make the Cardinals play their game in a "neutral site", like, say, Soldier Field or Lucas Stadium. Sheesh, I can't get this outta my head...this stubborness of league officials and their willingness to make a home team suffer. Um...Mr. Goodell? Any chance of moving the Card's game to the day prior? I mean, it's such a late minute notice. April 18th, and the game could be scheduled for January 2d?

No way. This THE NFL. They tell you what you're going to do and you do it. Now, go watch the NFL network regardless of how crappy it is or they will send someone to your house.

Film speed, or shutter speed??? If they are the same thing, my apologies. Took photo back in HS, and that wasn't exactly yesterday.

I think NFL scheduling is done by Aggies. First the NY scheduling dilemma, now this.

For the NY scheduling: As a Christian I say that if I can us an NFL game on Christmas eve to get out of church and be glad, you should too.

Here are the choices:
1: TiVo the game.
2: Ask a family member to record the service.
For a group that nailed up Jesus, I don't think this is too tough a choice.

Is there enough hotel space in the Phoenix area to support a BCS bowl game and an NFL game on the same weekend? I smell more Aggie involvement.
