Sabres keeping Regier, Ruff

This past week wasn't spent learning about Darcy Regier and Lindy Ruff. Larry Quinn and his fellow owners of the Buffalo Sabres already know all about them. Regier and Ruff have been with the team since 1997, so secrets are few and far between. What Quinn wanted to know during his meetings and evaluations was whether Regier and Ruff still have the vision to end the Sabres' two-year playoff drought. He wanted to know if the duo has the ability to generate new ideas despite being on the job for 11 seasons. He wanted to know if Ruff and Regier could admit to their share of mistakes on a team that has gone from the Presidents' Trophy in 2007 to two long offseasons. It appears Quinn found the answers he sought. Ruff and Regier will return to their roles next season, as Sabres ownership announced Friday they have faith in professional sports' longest-tenured coach and GM combination.

Alright! Another season of mediocrity!

It's time for the Sabres to clean house and I love Lindy Ruff and all but I feel that a change of scenery would do him good.

Regier has to go hes just messed up season after season and it gives Ruff nothing to work with!

wouldn't mind seeing rick dudley or john muckler as gm and as far as coach i don't think ruff is the long term answer. why not bring ted nolan back? worked for carolina this year, hiring a coach they fired

I don't see how it is Ruff's fault. The Sabres have lost alot of talent in the last couple seasons.

The injury to Miller did them in this year.

True.

At least it gave them an excuse for not making the playoffs.

Exactly... just another excuse for the Sabres. Couldn't blame them last year because they lose Drury and Briere and can't blame them this year because of an injury to Miller. Any bets on next years excuse? I'm betting on people blaming an injury to Connolly

every year its another stupid exuse with our buffalo franchises. what a joke drury and breire arent even that great, yet both there teams end up in the playoffs.

the biggest loss was cambpell...he was a huge factor. he was the only defensman we had that could carry the puck into the offensive zone. tallinder and sekera arent even close to maturing to do that. spacek is the only decent defender. rivet is an aweful skater. they need to gut this team inside out. the GM should of gone. ruff should stay. roy, rivet, lydman, afinogenov, peters and roy need to be traded/released for better talent. (roy is only talented one of the bunch and he can be dumped for atleast 2 decent players. afinogenov sucks, along with lydman and peters...NOBODY will want them)
