Patrice Bergeron, who dropped the gloves for the first time as an NHLer against defenseman Josh Gorges Saturday night, hadn't fought since the lockout year of 2004-05. According to www.hockeyfights.com, Bergeron squared off against Lowell's Jim Henkel Oct. 22, 2004.

OK.

Both of them are clowns for fighting with visors on. Great way to break or cut up your fingers and hands.

You have to love this rivalry!

April 20, 2009  10:25 AM ET

It is the Playoffs after all.

It sure says something about how cowardly the Canadiens have become when they are desperate enough to deliberately antagonize and hit first a skill player with a recent history of severe concussions. They are too cowardly to stand up to fights against big guys and instead pick on skill players and hit them in the head (see also hit from behind on Savard after Game 1 empty-netter). Forget a suspension - if the league had any integrity at all they would have banned that coward from hockey for life for hitting Bergeron in the head without provocation. In Bergeron's case, deliberately targeting his head could be grounds for an attempted murder charge based on his previous concussions. I used to at least respect Montreal, but they are so dirty and cowardly now they have lost any respect I ever had for them, despite my heritage being from Quebec. One can only assume they will sign Avery in the offseason to make sure they have someone on the roster who is willing to hit goalies in the back of the head.

Wow, a little dramatic, arent we? If Bergeron's head is that prone to injury, if a blow to his head will kill him, then he really should retire. Attempted murder? Dude, get a clue.

Have you even watched a single game of hockey, let alone a game in this particular series? Are you serious? Really? Attempted Murder? If Patrice Bergeron was this severely concussed in his life, he would no longer be playing in the NHL. Either start watching more hockey, or read more medical journals, but pick at least one.

Also, are you kidding me? Trageting skilled players only??? George Laraque, Maxime Lapierre and the rest of the team have been trying to get Lucic, Thornton, Chara and the big boys to dance, but Boston have been smart about it, realising, that if they stay on the ice, which is more beneficial in the cases of Chara and Lucic, they get Montreal to take stupid penalties, while they torch them on the power-play.

Seriously... please think before you go all Hollywood on these boards.

Actually, all New York Post or Toronto Sun would be more appropriate.

April 20, 2009  12:11 PM ET

Bergeron looked pretty good to me...that was hilarious! He kicked his butt good.

Les Miserables suck at every single aspect of the game...they can't even win a fight against a little guy that doesn't fight!

They have to beg the NHL to suspend Lucic, instead. There's been way more dirty play out of the Habs than Lucic defending himself from getting run.

Wow, what a moron. Attempted murder? are you serious? getting hit in the head is part of hockey, if he can't handle it, put a Lindros and get the hell out of dodge. If Bertuzzi can still play the game not wearing pin stripes, you argument has literally no merit whatsoever. Maybe you should get your head checked...

pull a lindros*

That picture does capture it all. I think PB is saying, " the B is for Bergeron B!&@%"

April 20, 2009  02:48 PM ET

Why is this news? Even Gretzky had a fight. It's on one of Don Cherry's very early videos. The guy was pissed off and they went at it. Hmmm, it happens in hockey.

You need to get you hockey "insights" from a much more reliable and I daresay...intelligent place than you are right now. And though I realise it's still okay to bash Avery...well, your comment was dumb.

While I agree with some of your statements here - the rest is pure bullsh!t. I am assuming you are being sarcastic here in parts but... dude .. get a clue. Hope you are not a Bruins fan as you are too stupid.
