somehow i think you could have put kobe and shaq on a small market team it still would have become public. Both of those egos would transend any sort of market...
Posted Monday April 14, 2014, About: Spoiled and lazy Clowney will disappoint
having seen a few of his games a couple of years ago (when he actually played), i'd have to agree somewhat with this. He reminds me alot of Albert Hainsworth: the raw talent/physical attributes are all off the charts, but he seems to be missing that killer instinct/drive. Taking plays off is one thing, but when he seemed to 'go all out' it was when he had a high chance for a money shot (eg. make sportscenter getting a pass rush on 3-n-long with only a RB chipping block)..

He could mature into an awesome player, or he could be like hainsworth after he gets paid. Be he definately does not have that worth-ethic drive you'd hope for from a top pick, at least coming out of college..

Posted Friday March 28, 2014, About: Detroit overpaid for Cabrera
he'll be 31 in a few months. This deal will be up to his 40th birthday. With his body style, defensive capabilities and injury history, your looking at him being a full time DH in 3-4 years, maybe sooner. Thats 29 million dollars a year for at least 6 years for a DH only.

That alone screams ridiculus. Then you factor in that without steriods, most players become a liability at the plate after 35 years old. Do your looking at the potential of paying 29 million a year, for a dh-only that cant play the field and only bats 5 times a game with diminishing hitting skills.
These are the contracts that make no sense whatsoever..
Posted Tuesday March 25, 2014, About: Wilfork has cleaned out his locker
seymour was on the tail end of his career. No where near the amount of money he was asking for. the Pats rate everyone based on their current performance, not on past deeds. The put a price tag on a players current skill and if the player thinks they are worth more, the Pats have no qualms about letting them walk. See Milloy, Law, Welker, Bledsoe, etc.

Most intelligent team players will know their true market value, and the pats wont low-ball anyone. Thats when the bruski's, troy browns, Dillons resign for reasonable contracts at the tail end of their careers. Also a good reason why they handle the cap better the most and still are competetive (see the boys, skins and raiders for the opposite here).
Posted Monday March 24, 2014, About: Will Cabrera top Pujols' $240M?
tigers just offered their pitcher 24 million/year, for basically one great season and a couple of decent ones. And he rejected it. No, teams are just as stupid as ever, with Boras idiots still pricing this game out of the average joes wallet.
Posted Thursday March 20, 2014, About: Jets want Vick to push Geno
maybe, but Vick could be a starter for many teams. Especially since this draft crop of QBs are not all that polished (like the luck/griffin draft), he has more of a shot to go to a team that drafts a QB and sits them for a year, letting vick start. Cleveland, Oak (clown-college west though), vikings, tennesee, arizona, etc. The jets have proven that they wouldnt start Vick over Geno unless Geno broke a leg or something. No bad play will get him demoted, as sanchez had to get hurt to lose his job and we all know how great he was playing and still being put out there.

If he's going to be a backup, he mind as well go to a contender to get the ring. Denver, NE, GB, Seattle, SF, etc..

revis must be licking his chops knowing he'll be going up against whichever QB the Jets throw out there twice next year...
Posted Wednesday March 05, 2014, About: Barkley's unique solution for tanking
Why not have two playoffs at the end of the year, kinda like the nit and ncaa tournaments? The first being the regular playoffs. Have a second tournament for all the teams that didnt make the playoffs. The order in which they finish the tournament dictates how they draft, winner getting number one pick.
Posted Thursday February 27, 2014, About: Luck courting ex-teammate Jonathan Martin
another thing to worry about is what happens in the game itself. With the amount of trash-talking going on, if martin struggles in the field, will he break down when the DTs/LBs/etc start trashing-talking him about being, farily or unfairly, being a soft player mentally..
Posted Wednesday February 26, 2014, About: No progress for Graham
admittantly i only saw 3 late-season saint games, but in each of those games, Graham was non factor. In fact, in one, he didnt have even a catch the entire game. Has he been hurt or something?

I've seen way more of Gronk (especially in street clothes but thats another story), but when he does play, hes always a factor. I didnt get the same vibe of graham in games, is he really at that non-injury gronk level?

Posted Tuesday January 28, 2014, About: Ortiz floats 'time to move on'
actually, they should make a policy where 1st offense your banned a year, 2nd you are Pete-Rosed.
But, they should also include that getting caught the 1st time nullifies your current contract. Getting caught a second time allows for MLB to sue for back wages, where the money goes into the pot used for better testing. gotta stay ahead of the cheats.

Look at Arod. He cheated, sits out a year and loses ~25mil. But he gets 60million more after that for the next 3 years, please the previous 250mil+ he's already earned.
Posted Wednesday January 22, 2014, About: Patriots have become the '90s Braves
last time i checked, the Braves of the 90's only won once. Pats have won 3 times. If memory serves, Montana's 49ers only won 4 Superbowls, and missed out 10 other times. Were they like the Braves too?

Posted Friday January 10, 2014, About: Second thoughts for Franklin?
i don't think this is as clear cut as it seems. Penn State is still in image recovery mode. Hiring a coach who has 3-4 current players accused of sexual misconduct cannot be sitting when with any college, especially Penn State. Not blaming the coach without the facts, not even sure if he recruited them, if they are guilty, or whatever, but the mere perception of this has got to give at Penn state folks some pause on hiring him.

I think the lions were secretly hoping Coughlin was fired. They would have scooped him up before he cleared out his NY office.
