As for Tebow, it's really hard to talk about the guy honestly without someone getting their feelings hurt. I LOVE the guy as person and motivator etc. As a Christian, I whole-heartedly support everything he does with his faith and his priorities. I would love to have him as a leader of my team. However, whenever the OU loser said he'd only be the 4th or 5th best qb in the Big 12, he was right. He didn't say leader, or competitor or athlete, he said qb. As far as throwing, reading coverages etc. he's not spectacular. The thing is, I think Colt McCoy is a better version of Tebow. Great guy (he does mission trips and speaking engagements too with way less pub), had better rushing numbers (although I'd much rather have TT on the goalline), and was far superior in virtually every passing stat. So I just don't understand how Tebow could get the Heisman one year with that resume, then Colt do it better and NOT win the Heisman.
MAN I HATE OU. Sam "So easy a caveman could do it" Bradford is a very talented fellow, but I would estimate that half of his success should be attributed to other factors. He had the without a shadow of doubt best O-line for 2 years, great receivers, very very good RBs, and a system that tired and confused pple. Oh and lets be honest, while the Big 12 defense isn't as bad as my SEC brethren would have you believe, it ain't that good either. I know this hurts my argument for Colt BUT Colt didn't have the same talent and experience at WR (although we're stacked with the talent part this year), his O-line was good but not great, and he had no one who remotely resembled a RB last year.
Yeah ok, I know, I'm whining. My bad. The Longhorns just got screwed in a lot of different ways last year. Just imagine mustering all your strength to beat your most hated, and more talented rival. Then having a major comeback against the year's trendiest team slip through the hands of a freshman DB. Then having that same bitter rival somehow pass you despite the fact that you beat them to win not only the conference championship, but get a chance to play for the National Championship. Then you figure your QB will win the Heisman because he had a much more rounded resume, did more with less, and beat the one of the other candidates...but LOSE. Then that bitter rival embarrasses your league by losing its 5th bcs game in a row. This is our hell.
Just to show I'm not hating on UF/Florida, I don't like the Cowboys either. I know most pple think it's impossible for Texans to not like the 'Boys, but I never have. I grew up an Oilers fan. So now I'm kinda in limbo. Ultimately the NFL has nothing on college.
Oh and I like Tebow a lot as a person and as a football player...as a Qb, I would suggest the media slows its roll on that one.
Not that I expect any one to really care about my opinion. Just putting it out there.
well done on the CNR recognition.
I guess I did somewhat misjudge your comments, BUT expressing some doubt as to whether we'd lock down our verbal committments or kind of scoffing how we just automatically get recruits and have them lined up for years are technically negative things.
Sure it's not overly offensive like the whole calling us sensitive girls thing that you seem to be stuck on. But it's negative none the less. So I'm correct in saying that there were a surprising number of fairly negative comments to start off an article about the 'horns, and they all seem to be from Gators.
I don't have any beef with ya dude, I'm just trying to argue a point. But, I think it's fun to call eachother names and argue CFB, so if you wanna continue to hit me with sophomoric, chauvanistic comments calling me a girl, I'm up for it man. Putting people in their place is one of my favorite things to do.
This whole argument started because 2 or 3 of you Gators got on a Longhorn story and complained. Granted, yours wasn't a huge knock on us or anything, but we're just noticing a trend here. 2 or 3 of the first few comments are complaints, and they're by Gators. I was just stating that that was kinda lame considering they just won a NC, have amazing recruiting themselves and the media tells us God is their qb. I would think that if you're so secure in their "dominance" you wouldn't waste your time with schools that are supposedly inferior.
