In 1973 (my first year at UBC) I got tickets to the January 1, 1974 Canucks game against Boston. My little sister (she was 11) loved Phil Esposito. The tickets were her Xmas present.

In the pregame skate I took her down to ssee if we could get Phil's autograph.

As he was skating by I hollered at him and he came right up to us. Rubbed her on the head and handed her his stick. We also had a picture of him that she wanted him to autograph. He signed the picture and the stick.

Both are hanging on the wall in her recroom to this day. No way in hell she'd ever part with either.

Not so if you are after HD.

Up here you need the set top box (PVR) to supply the HD signal. And unless you have a Bell satellite system you can't have PIP. Even if the TV has PIP it's useless because you have no signal worth viewing on the other tuner.

I suppose you could watch a movie off your BluRay and have the game on in a window to keep the ball and chain happy, but you simply cannot watch two HD channels at once. Unless you have two PVRs.

Or as I said a Bell PVR with PIP built in.

I have many times taken this up with Shaw cable and they say they are at the mercy of their supplier.... Yet their PVR has 2 tuners and could easily be programmed to supply PIP if it had memory to support the software.

But I digress.....
