At least the Heat don't have to worry about him disappearing during any big games as there won't be any in Miami.
Thomas is not better than Skinner "by far". Thomas averaged 4.6 PPG & 5.7RPG in 18 minutes last year. Skinner is at 3.7 PPG & 4.3 RPG in 14 minutes. Skinner is a MUCH better shot blocker and his minutes are on the rise. Thomas also tended to bog down the offense while "containing" Duncan (more on that later).
Had Marion been willing to sign an extension in Boston, it would be Garnett with the Suns, not Jefferson.
Amare has been playing more 4 lately as Skinner's minutes increase and they stay on the court together.
During the Spurs series last year, Thomas was able to hold Duncan to "only" 27 PPG & 14 RPG. I'm sure you know the outcome of the series so why not try something else. Maybe let Duncan get his and bring in guys that fit in the best offense in the league. No one in the league can stop Duncan so you have to try something else. What they had wasn't working.
I have a feeling that come March & April, the Suns will be at the top of their division and ready for the playoffs.
Again, it's just my opinion.
There's no questioning Banks' ability to score or defend. It's his silly fouls and turnovers that get him on Dantoni's bad side.
The Heat just want to announce it at the right time.
The Bucks would be Isiah crazy to take on his contract.
Like I said... Win a playoff series and we'll talk.
Basing post season predictions on regular season games. Some people's logic amazes me.
You love bringing up the 05-6 playoffs so let's look at those. The Suns are without they're leading scorer or top two rebounders and they still beat the Lakers after giving them a 3 game head start. With Amare back, the Lakers only get 1 game of 5. This season won't be any different.
The Laker's won't be top 4 as they won't win more games than SA, Dallas or Phoenix and the Jazz/Nuggets are in the top 4 as division winners. A 5 seed eliminates them in the first round regardless of who they play.
We'll see in April which team is for real. I'll take the Suns even though Vegas won't pay me the odds that you would.
I'd worry more about the games in April than the ones in December but that's just my opinion.
All I'm saying is that once the first round comes and goes and Kobe's watching from home, are you still going to be bragging about your talent?
The Lakers have won 4 playoff games the last 3 seasons with essentially the same team they have now. Win a playoff series and you may be able to talk about being contenders.
As for whether or not Kobe stays... We'll have to wait to see what names he drops when his second annual "My team sucks" rant hits stores this June.
Kobe will be traded by Feb '09.
P.S. DJ... 2 years ago the Suns gave the Lakers a 3 game head start, spotted them their leading scorer & rebounder and their best interior defender (who was also their second best rebounder) and the Lakers still couldn't get it done. With Amare back, the Lakers cannot compete with the Suns in a 7 game series.
