So you're another foreigner who decided to chime in on a league that you no doubt watched about 2 highlight clips from and decided to chime in about it because you have the 'fix' for it huh?

Pass. Save it for whatever league you deign important enough to follow.

Pro/Rel will NEVER happen. I will bet every dollar I ever make on it.

What exactly is the 'European Calendar' ? Has anyone told Russia and Scandinavia that they are no longer a part of Europe?
Why is everyone here so bonered up about making MLS a knock off of the EPL? It will never be exactly like England. Ever. EVER. Even if it becomes the most profitable league on earth it will never completely resemble the EPL so again, stop it.

That said, MLS needs to dummy up and stop skedding against the FIFA dates. If they want 5-7 days open up, dump the stupid a**ed dates they set aside for friendlies for each club every year and you have taken a giant chunk out of the needed dates. Start the season a week earlier and end a week later and you've taken care of 4 more dates.

It really isn't or shouldn't be that hard considering most of the teams will be playing in their own buildings next year or at least in buildings that their owners have control of like in NE .

Of course it's not JUST Cubans but the majority of the Latinos there are. Just like Los Angeles isn't ALL Mexicans, but you'd be right 9/10 if you guessed someone was Mexican.

1200 is terrible attendance even for a High School stadium. There are teams (Atlanta) in USL who draw 5 times that. Miami shouldn't ever be in the equation. Outside of college football it just isn't a sports town. Too many people with no real ties to the teams there and too many other distractions for anyone to really care.

@ J. HOVA: BROOKLYN'S OWN | 09/06/08, 04:47 PM

Dude, I've said it once and I'll say it a billion times: just because someone has a Spanish last name doesn't mean they come from a country that is football mad. MOST Latinos in Miami are Cuban and Cubans give about as much of a crap about soccer as we do. It's a baseball nation through and through. Panamanian is another good sized population in Miami and they too are baseball fanaticos first and foremost.

Back OT: So Barca wants to put a team were others have spectacularly failed AND model it after Chivas USA who are arguably the worst supported and weakly attended teams in the league? I mean there are WBNA teams who outdraw Chivas USA.

Please stop it with the letting other clubs buy franchises here with no real intention of furthering the game here in this country.

If FCB really wants to flush $50 million down the toilet, hand it over to me, fire Laporta (since that seems to be his goal here) and be done with it.
Posted Thursday September 04, 2008, About: Why U.S. passed on Adu, Altidore
the squad Bradley picked absolutely stinks and there is no excuse to leave Adu and Altidore off of it. This is World Cup qualifying. I don't care how new they are at their clubs, We need to pound these teams into the dirt and cruise into the WC not take a half-a**ed squad like this and eek our way through. (T&T is going to be a lot tougher than many are giving them credit for)
Posted Wednesday September 03, 2008, About: Other clubs wanted Bradley
@D-Wreck | 09/02/08, 04:48 PM
Bradley straight up admitted that he has asked Subotic several times into camp and would like him on board but it looks like Rongen soured that idea. He is basically as good as gone unless the German National team is looking too stacked for him to break into a starting role (which is possible since Germany cranks out top quality players like they are going out of style on a routine basis)

@Matt Gregory James | 09/02/08, 10:52 PM
Says the guy who clearly didn't watch the Olympics. Wynne is still a rough prospect but his raw abilities can't be ignored. He could be a ridiculous talent at fullback. He already has teams looking at him. I'm not talking about crap 2nd division Norwegian clubs either.
Posted Wednesday September 03, 2008, About: Big changes for Manchester City
FSC just reported the owners plan on spending a quarter BILLION dollars in January. They have Cristiano Ronaldo, Torres, Gerrard, Kaka and a number of other huge names on their hit list. With cash like that they will get at least 1 of them.
United just became Manchester's #2 team if the owner's supply of money and interest remains intact. No one is going to outspend them. Even Abramovich's bank account looks like a joke compared to these guys.
Yipes.
Posted Tuesday September 02, 2008, About: Mastroeni to Italy next season?
he will probably make a little more money. (SOOO many people have an inflated idea of salaries on clubs outside of the top 4 or so in each league and Pablo makes a lot more than average in MLS) he'll face better competition.

If anything it's a move to keep him on the front burner for WC2010. If he can stay on as a regular in a serie A side Bradley would be raped for not picking him. If he rides pine, he makes a little more coin and misses out on the WC. It's a gamble for Pablo but if it pans out for him it pans out for the USMNT which is what I care more about than whether Pablo stays in Colorado or not.

Hate to depress you there, champ, but nbcolympics.com has been streaming all the games live and has them archived as well. They are doing it for all the events so if you've missed anything you can go watch it there. They also have been putting events On Demand and most cable systems have added a soccer only channel specifically for the Olympics.
You are who they talk about when they say 'check your local listings' apparently. :)

@ NiGhTw1nGn | 08/22/08, 12:05 AM
Dude...comparing LA to Barcelona is comical. I live in LA and have spent plenty of time in Barcelona and Barca wins every day of the week. LA isn't even in the top 4 best cities in the US much less the world.
Posted Wednesday August 06, 2008, About: Red Bulls chasing Henry?
7557-even if they do sign Henry, please feel free to still avoid games. I'd rather the league stop trying to attract fair weathers.

Henry isn't coming to NY soon. This is the NY Post running with moron Ives' wild speculations. The earliest they might see him is in a year or two and with the money RBNY has been hemorrhaging and their inability to finish a GD stadium, I don't see how they could be an even remotely attractive option to such a classy player. I think Seattle still has a better chance of it. (plus Allen has more money than RBNY does)

Sorry but you have raised my ire. I am SICK of seeing people list the transfer fee as the players salary. It's not. Rosenborg was offering 1.2 million for a transfer fee NOT for his annual salary, he'd end up making much less than that per year.
I posted a link to average salaries last week and the average Prem salary is just under a million (with the disparity at the top, it means the MEDIAN is well under a million) and the Championship is about 50% of that.
He makes about $400K now so he would be getting another $100-250K but he'd be playing in a team in a country's second division when he is clearly good enough for a lower table side in any top league based on current form.

FCD and MLS were right to reject this joke of an offer. They shouldn't even pick up the phone until the number starts with a 6.

I know I just defended Beckham and he is a lot better than many are giving him credit for, but he isn't the best MF in terms of his influence on play. Blanco and Schelotto have both had a bigger impact on their teams but Beckham is certainly one of the best and a very important part of any of the success LA has had.

Also, saying Donovan needs to finish more is a bit much too. The guy leads the league in goals and has played great this year. Their sole problem is horrible defense and a complete lack of a presence in the d-mid role.

@ D-Wreck | 07/31/08, 10:07 AM

the Cosmos played in Jersey too. You argument just went into the toilet. NYC doesn't deserve a second club for at least 15 more years.
Posted Thursday July 31, 2008, About: Galaxy bosses aren't pleased
Man you guys need to watch more Galaxy games (painful I know) but saying Beckham is a waste or a reason for their lackluster performance is a joke.

Lalas is totally to blame. Every move he made was to add offense and thought he could just outgun other teams and avoid having a competent defender or d-mids.

The horrendous performance of Dominguez this past weekend (the CB who replaced Xavier who looked twice as bad as Xavier) just amplified his ineptitude.

Until LA gets someone to boss the midfield and/or the backline they will continue scoring goals but being susceptible to games like this past weekend.

Oh and it doesn't look like Ruud feels to safe either, he put his home up for sale. Maybe he wants to move to Manhattan Beach where all the other athletes in LA live (along with his own players due to proximity to the HDC whereas his current home is about and hour away) but still, the timing of the sale looks odd.

The ban is far too harsh considering the only thing that was proven was he punched at the ball and hit Simms in the gut.

@ BuffaloTF | 07/31/08, 09:11 AM
That's absurd. So should a player in the WC get banned at club? Or if a player gets a yellow in Champion's League and he has 4 in his domestic league, should he get a red in both places? You concept is absurd.

@ BarcaMesQueUnClub | 07/31/08, 11:35 AM
1) get off it. No one was saying anything racist. The term 'Mexican' referred to Mexican clubs in most of the posts.
2) if Mexico had been in the US' group in the WC they wouldn't have done any better. Oh and who is the only team to make the last 5 world cups out of the two? Oh yeah, the US. Oh and head to head, who whooped on whom in 2002? Oh yeah, US again. Who is going to the Olympics this year and who is sitting home crying? OH yeah...US going, Mexico crying...again.
Maybe Mexico should refocus on being the best in their own fed before they focus on the big boys. You assertions are absurd.
3) it's best not to call other people ignorant if you don't know the difference between 'cue' and 'queue'

dude, please get off the drugs. Ochoa is nowhere near #1 in the world. Buffon or Chech are both easily better than him. (so are Howard and Friedel)

you just sound silly now. Howard is the only keeper worth bragging about? How about Friedel (who is also in the top 4 in the EPL at the moment)
Posted Tuesday July 29, 2008, About: Ochoa to replace Howard at Everton?
@ ramirez993 | 07/28/08, 01:45 PM
is this the same wonderboy who led his team to last place last year? Ochoa is SLIGHTLY overrated, IMO.

This move reeks of BS. I don't see Ochoa going to be a backup. The only way this move is true is if Howard is being inquired about which is very well possible as he is one of the top 4 in the EPL at the moment.
Posted Sunday July 27, 2008, About: Man U. now targeting Henry?
bogus story. Why would he say such things about someone he's already worked with for a year? Judging by preseason, he seems to be fitting in nicely.
Plus, c'mon, live in Manchester or live in Barcelona. No contest Barcelona wins every time.
(which is to say nothing of his 'gunner or nothing' EPL stance)

you're absolutely right about the fairweather NY fans but that's hardly a RBNY only experience. That's a NY sports experience. It really is the second most fairweather town in the US. (LA is the king by a nose)

Even if they put NY2 in MLS (please god no) just you wait. When that team sucks for 5 years there will be a billion 'problems' with them as well and the fan support will be non-existent.

Hell, if the Yankees drew about half a stadium average for most of the dark days of the 1980's then no other team there really has a chance.
