Of course, that's the obvious answer, but I couldn't help poke fun at it. It reminded me of an actual statement made by a football announcer: "Smith gives 110% on every play, and you can't give more than that."

Hmmm, what if he runs on the field, throws a ceremonial pass to Donald Driver, but it gets picked off by a tv cameraman, while the jumbotron shows pictures of his junk?

Together they accounted for 103 percent of the Lions' offensive snaps. You can't ask players for more effort than that.
Posted Tuesday April 15, 2014, About: Why the Raiders have lost 111 of 160 games
That would be more like a seance than a support group.

Exactly, and still many teams don't learn: Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Christian Ponder, Brandon Weeden, Blaine Gabbert. And that's just recently. This list goes pretty far back.

True, and the Lions weren't exactly famous for their successful draft picks, either.
Posted Tuesday April 15, 2014, About: 'Hometown' Panthers in on Rice
The Giants are really looking in the discount rack for receivers this year.

The draft strategy was the last of Al Davis' legacies - picking players based on pure athletic ability, such as speed (Darrius Heyward-Bey) or arm strength (Jamarcus Russell) - which worked for him in the 1970s.
Posted Monday April 14, 2014, About: The best RB in the draft will drop
I've totally forgotten what his off-field issues are, if I ever heard them in the first place.

What can JP learn by staying at Duke another year? Maybe how to play defense without constantly fouling, so he can be in the game more when it counts. Plus, college is a unique time in life that should be enjoyed for more than a year.

Dire Wolf. Nice.

And you, my displaced quarterback,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Backup QB could be the best job in all of sports. 1-2 million a year. Walk around in a baseball cap and hold a clipboard. And no concussions.

If the Pats feature Mallet a lot during pre-season, watch for the trade rumors to start. If I were BB, I'd ask for a conditional 4th round pick that could move up to a 3rd if Mallet meets certain performance goals.
Posted Tuesday April 08, 2014, About: Feeding frenzy for Mettenberger
I think there is a good chance they might. And if he pans out in camp and pre-season, don't be surprised to see the Pats trade Mallet for a few draft picks.
Posted Tuesday April 08, 2014, About: Under-the-radar team for CJ2K
Now watch the Pats sign him as another reclamation project.
Posted Tuesday April 08, 2014, About: Feeding frenzy for Mettenberger
Agreed. Being a transplanted SEC home boy, I've seen him play. He's still kind of rough around the edges, and a project for some NFL team, but definitely worth a gamble on a 4th or 5th round pick.
Posted Monday April 07, 2014, About: CJ2K's departure about more than money
Oh get real. He held out for a large contract, got it, came to camp out of shape and never again came close to his one outstanding season.
Posted Friday April 04, 2014, About: Dez Bryant's unlikely mentor
Well said. My Giants have to face him twice each year, which no doubt gives you great and evil pleasure. At least I can take some comfort in knowing who is throwing the ball to him.
Posted Friday April 04, 2014, About: Oregon State WR better than DeSean?
He sees an opening on a team that needs a receiver, a rising star QB, and the potential for a lot of playing time and opportunity.

Geez, this guy has been on death watch longer than Generalissimo Franco.
