The Lakers presently have 3 centers.
The Lakers will - not - be trading for Ben Wallace. And, for those who don't know - the salaries would match. Hinrich makes 11 mil - Deng makes about 3. Hinrich would have to be in the deal, because the Lakers don't need Wallace. That said - Jerry Buss has learned from the Shaq trade that you don't trade the best player in the league unless you get the best player from that team. That means Luol Deng is in the trade, or the trade doesn't happen.
As far as I'm concerned, present roster, neither the Lakers nor the Bulls win the championship. In the East the Bulls could make it to the NBA Finals - but they can't beat the Spurs or the Suns or Dallas. The Lakers have more of a chance with Kobe in the west than without, especially if the without contains a bunch of players in the weak East that haven't been able to do anything serious.
Bulls fans who hate Kobe - you have no idea what you're missing, or what you're talking about. Kobe, for your owner, automatically boosts revenue and creates buzz around a once-excellent franchise. Luol Deng does not do that.
Better hope your owner doesn't like money - because if you guys start off slowly, you'll have Kobe in your city for the little youngsters you guys love so much.
